I am 16 weeks and my baby's heartbeat is consistantly 144. I have heard that HB relates to gender. If there is any truth in this what would my baby be? x

I don't think there's any truth at all! Mine was 160 which indicates girl but we're having a boy! Xxx

i dont think so either my LO HB is always between 140 -160 and they say thats a girls HB well im having a boy lol x

There is a study somewhere on the net that shows that the heartrate varies ONLY with length of gestation and that it is predictive of miscarriages - if it falls a week behind the expected level at any stage. This is most accurate at 8-12 weeks or thereabouts. They plotted heartbeat in pink and blue (pink for girls, blue for boys) and there was total overlap showing that heartbeat has nothing to do with gender.

Sorry can't find the study right now. The wives tale is that less than 140 is a boy, more than 140 is a girl.

IF it was true, it would be boy. My girl was consistently around 152 bpm - this one started off at 176 bpm and stayed that way until twelve weeks which was a bit worrying, before dropping down to 152 and staying there. I find out what she (convinced it's a girl) is next week.

My LO was at 170 so i thought for sure it was a girl.. But we're having a boy :)
