midwifes generally wont try untill after 12 weeks, i hope she does though

They generally wont try until about 16 weeks. If you have an appointment in between your booking in and 16 week appt then they may try then. Its very quiet at first and because baby is so small before 12 weeks it can be very hard to find

My Mw first listened to heartbeat at 24 weeks.... as others say... if they try to early its very difficult to find and may course unnecessary panic!!!

My doc did it at 19 weeks and it took about 5 mins to find!!

Agree with the others, it is extremely difficult to find the heartbeat before 16 weeks, most won't try because it tends to worry mothers if they can't find the heartbeat that early.
