Back from scan, hcg 37000 but empty sac!!!

Hi everyone,

I am pretty devastated as this is likely to be my 4th loss now in a year. I went for a scan this morning and I've only just returned from the hospital as they suspected an ectopic, but this has been ruled out now because my hormone levels are so high and a 20mm sac was present. Has anyone had this happen to them? All my pregnancies have at least showed something before now. How can my hormone levels be so high with nothing to show for it??! The consultant says i should go back for a rescan in a week as they don't diagnose miscarriage until the sac is 25mm with no embryo. Anyone had this happen? All stories welcome! X

Hope its just a little early for you and things will show up on next scan. Im really rooting for you and like you said surely with such a high hcg it cant be blighted ovum right?!

What happened? Did you have pain or something or just a routine scan?

do you have a tilted uterus? sometimes they have a hard time finding the baby with tilted uteruses. My SIL couldn't find her daughter until after 7 weeks, just a sac - and she's an U/S tech so she was scanning herself daily!! Try to not lose hope just yet!!

Aww thanks Hun, yeah I do have tilted uterus. I went for my scan on impulse as the said they would fit me in when I was ready due to my history and fear of scans. It's just that I have seen an embryo earlier than this before and still with s tilted uterus. I am 6.4 so feeling pretty much doomed but that is reassuring about your sil! So was she exactly 7 weeks then? X x x

Yea it was no earlier than 7 weeks before she could find her daughter. She found her second daughter much earlier than that, so I wouldn't lose all hope yet! When do you go back???

The baby implanted in the back of her uterus with her first daughter, so the baby could have just implanted somewhere you can't find it. You're in my thoughts, hun!
