Hiya ladies,

We re-packed our hospital bags last night and I am debating if hospital will allow us to use either a wheat bag (would need to be microwaved) or a hot water bottle (would need hot water)???

I always suffer from back pain during periods and have done in this pregnancy so have a feeling I will have back labour, plus my sisters had this, and I feel this will help in the early stages... (before all the drugs!!! :haha:)

Do hospitals allow you to use these and have facilities to do so???

Thanks ladies :hugs:

They will probably be able to fill a hotwater bottle. I have always used cooled boiled water and cotton wool to clean nappy changes or had a cup of tea post delivery, so I know they have kettles around. Check with your midwife, or ask when you go on the hospital tour. You might want to fill it up before you leave as getting your bottle filled might take quite a while, if they can do it.

I used tens through my labour for this was really good if you have one.x

I was given them at the hospital last time round as was my sister.

I'd think they'd fill up a hot water bottle for you, not sure about microwaving though, that'll depend on their facilities etc

My midwife recently told me that I can take my own hot water bottle into hospital but we would have to fill it ourselves as they aren't allowed to because of health and safety rules! Crazy!! :dohh:

The book I was given from hospital recommends taking in a microwaveable wheat pack. I had some heat pads that can be stuck to the skin surface (think they are cura-heat ones) that are normally for muscular back pain lying about the house so I have just stuck these in my hospital bag. Don't know if they will be any use or whether I will be able to use them?
