I went to my routine 30 weeks mw appointment monday, told her I was itching alot and she did a liver function blood test.

I just called up for the results and the lady at reception said it says I need to repeat it in a week and that a letter has been sent to me saying this.

Now I'm petrified I have cholestasis and no-one has let me know.

My midwife is in the surgery tomorrow so going to call her then and have her explain everything. I hate this waiting =[

Please don't worry, a lot of the advice surrounding this has changed recently. I was diagnosed with it at 32 weeks and apart from offering me some meds that is all they have done - no repeat bloods no early induction and apparently no increased risks. If they offer you a drug called urso I would take it, my itching seems to have virtually gone now and only 3 days from due date.

Having said all that I think the procedures probably vary from region to region but spoke to about 4 different midwifes, 3 registrars and a consultant in my area and they all seemed to think it was no big deal and were adament there would be more risk from early induction than from leaving to go to term.

Hope they don't leave you waiting too long for results (I had to wait 4 days for the bile acid results which showed I had it, Liver function came back ok on the same day they took the bloods).

They havn't said anything yet, just that they need to repeat it, don't know why they would if there was nothing wrong?

I was under the impression they did repeats of any test if any results are borderline. Reception are never helpful, hope you get the info you need : ) xxx
