Hi everyone. I just wanted to express myself as I hope I will feel better getting it all out.
So my egg retrieval went well on 20 December 2010. They retrieved 25 eggs!
There was a lot of pain afterwards, but recovered in less than a week.
Well, the bad news is that on the day, my DH produced his semen and there was no sperm!
I could not believe this! They asked him to produce a second sample at the clinic which
had no sperm whatsoever! I was in shock (and pain after the retrieval).
They suggested they perform an extraction from his testicle (can't remember the name)
which he was awake for as he could not have anesthesia as he had eaten that morning.
As if the pain he had wasn't bad enough, they still found no sperm!
I could not believe this was happening to us! I kept asking myself why, why, why?
After the procedure our specialist sent us to have his hormones tested via a blood test.
His testosterone was normal but his FSH was low, 0.3 mIU/L. From 20 million sperm count in May to zero sperm in December was a shock. All we needed was one tiny sperm, but there
was nothing. Our specialist gave us injections for him which include ovidrel and menopur
which he must start taking on Monday. There is hope, but now it's a 3 month wait as sperm
takes 90 days to produce and mature. Apparently a low FSH can be fixed but a high FSH cannot. One good thing I guess. Has anyone experienced this before?
I'm hopeful but still so heartbroken! I just want our baby so badly!!!!!!!
