My OH went for a SA back in Nov but they lost the results but they finally found them and the doctor phoned and said they are low, theres no chance of getting pregnant and theres abnormalities they want to talk about when he goes back to the drs next week.

I've looked at the criteria for IVF with the NHS and we aren't eligible even then theres a 4 year waiting list here apparently. We cant afford a private clinic.

So is this it? No baby ever for us?

i am sorry about you test results ...did they said if a life style diet could improve his sperms at all? i heard zinc make a big diference etc..

No, they haven't said anything like that, I'll get him to ask when he goes next week and look into zinc, I got him some multi vitamins last week which are supposed to help - vit a, c and selenium.

:hugs: I'm sorry to hear that, hopefully they can suggest some things that might help when he goes back to see them.

Sorry to hear this :(

Why don't you meet the criteria for IVF on NHS? Could you join a health insurance plan and then after 12 months they will pay? Thats how it works over here.

hiya hun , PLS dont give up ! theres a healthy diet and also some herbel tablets called maca, these increase sperm motivation, formation and the egg aswell ! we got these after OH had low testostrone, they say they increase ur sex life aswell, but think this is when u take more than 2 a day cos it didnt do out like that for us,,,,,,we both took it, and we went bk 3mth later for testotrone levels check again and the difference was massive ! :)
get them at www.healthydirect.com ,LOTS on here av used it :) goodluck x

I dont think we have anything like that over here, maybe theres a clinic that doesn interest free credit like the cosmetic surgeries do :rofl:will have to look into it but there aren't that many clinics near us so not too hopeful there.

We dont meet the criteria in 2 ways I think, I am 20, hes 40, therefore I believe I am too young (need to be 23?) and he has a son from a previous relationship which would probably put us further down the list :hissy:

Hey Kirstin

How come the NHS won't fund it hun?

We are waiting on ICSI on the NHS due to low count at present. We've change DH's diet but no change on the SA front as yet - i think it's medical and nothing pills can fix but i know some people have had an improvement.

Is there no way you could look into private funding or loan to consider private ICSI? There is always the option of gift - there are clinics that will offer you free IVF in return for you donating some eggs to couples who have none?x

Hi, I dont think we are eligible because of my age (20) possibly his too? But I cant find anything about male age and he has a child from a previous relationship so I dont like we would be a priority.

I've been looking into egg donation as a private clinic close by offers cheaper treatment if you donate eggs, I didn't realise you could get the whole thing free at some places? I just dont know how I would cope if it wasn't successful wondering whether the other eggs were?:(

I don't think you should be penalised against due to age, especially not if his SA has shown it is something that wouldn't improve. Having said that, do they know why his SA wasn't good if he is already a dad?

I think it's the lister clinic that does donations - might be worth just enquiring? If you were a good responder you could end up having enough eggs for more than 1 go of ICSI?

Hopefully your GP will refer your partner to the fertility specialist and they will talk through your options as there may be other things they can do. Don't lose hope :hugs:

He had a low sperm count about 15 years, it was virtually zero apparently then 7 years later it "magically" came back and the doctors couldn't really explain it.

I'll take a look at that clinic, thanks :hugs:

Good luck chick hope you don't have to wait too long for your little bean :hugs:

:hugs: Thanks, I am going to buy him some maca and probably zinc then see what the doctor says next week, it just seems ages away :(

It goes really quickly i promise you. Don't give up trying though chick as it can still happen - i kinda gave up hope a bit after DH's diagnosis but we carried on TTC - we are having a bit of time out at the mo as i have to lose a few pounds before my IVF so i'm trying to focus on that!

:hugs: Don't give up hope. It takes about 3 months to make a new lot of sperm. My dh was diagnosed with low morphology (which I presume is the same as the abnormality) and low vitality. He was due his 2nd SA this Friday, but I got my BFP last weekend. He took zinc this month so that has helped.

Good luck hun

Well he was supposed to have his appointment today but the doctor was running 2 hours late so because he had to go back to work he had to cancel it and the only one he could get was next Friday so another 9 days to wait:(

The maca and zinc I ordered still haven't arrived either:(
