Baking soda gender test - anyone proven accurate?

Just wondering for those of you who know the sex of your baby, did you try the baking soda test and was it accurate for you?

What is the baking soda test?

You add urine to baking soda. If it fizzes then it means you are supposedly having a boy. If nothing happens then you are supposedly having a girl. From what I know this is based on that when women are pregnant with boys their urine is usually more acidic.

If I am incorrect please enlighten me.

Its just for fun really. I;ve tried it this pregnancy. More than twice I get no fizz every time. But a scan at 12+5 shows that i'm probably having a boy. Kind of early I know, I'll let you know in a couple of weeks if it was right.

I did this test a couple of times, both times said "girl" and my gender scan, 20 week scan and 4D scan all confirmed I'm expecting a girl =)

I started peeing on baking soda at 7wks, 8wks and 10 wks. Must try it again......

Just when DH thought I was done peeing on things...lol

I wonder if there's any truth to it or just a fluke...I mean it's a 50/50 chance

I think its just a fluke. Wee that is more acidic will make baking soda fizz (try it with vinegar...its fun!) and no fizz with more alkaline wee. Its the same way the intelligender tests work. I think the idea is that if your carrying a boy then it makes your wee more acidic. I really wish it did work as I would love a girl, but 12 week scan really does look boy.

Oh, and I mean pour vinegar on the baking soda, not pee on the vinegar.

Mine was right ... no fizz = Girl and we have had 2 scans both confirming
