I don't know a whole lot about recording basal. I got a thermometer yesterday my sister who is also trying but using a different method. I'm not sure which to record!

I started my period on the 9th they only last 3 days. My average is 32 days. That puts me fertile between 22nd and 28th. Although this month my body seems to have given me signs these days were off I think the 21st is the day I was waiting for. I haven't been sleeping well the past 2 or 3 days I feel funny.. a little off. So this morning was my first basal reading.
At 4:30am I woke took temp 87.37 used restroom.
6:20am took temp 87.77 husband went to work.
9am (generally when I wake up and start my day) 98.36

Which reading do I record? Why are they so different?
I'm not sure what to think about this month its been a strange one..

I'm still figuring it out too, but from what I've read, it's supposed to be the first temperature you take in the morning, before you get out of bed to pee or do anything else. I read through the FAQ on FF (Fertitility Friend) about BBT, and it gave some good tips.

Wikipedia says "Basal body temperature is the lowest temperature attained by the body during rest (usually during sleep). It is generally measured immediately after awakening and before any physical activity has been undertaken, although the temperature measured at that time is somewhat higher than the true basal body temperature."

So when you first wake up, your temperature should be lower than it would be during the day and after you wake up and start moving.

The temp itself isn't important, but just the pattern over the course of your cycle. I would use either the first or second temp if I were you. The third one is much higher because your body warmed up and didn't have enough time to cool down between 6 and 9 am.

thank you very much. I think I will keep the second one because it is probably a pretty good time for me to do every day considering my husband goes to work at that time. I will try those sights and see if I can learn more thank you!
