Any of you on bedrest? I was looking for a bedrest thread but am having issues with the search. I've been on best rest for a month due to AF leakage. I have great days & then days where I'm totally depressed. The depression stems more from being scared about my little one than anything else. How are others coping & keeping entertained? I have to limit movement, so my days mostly consist of reading and watching tv while laying on my side in bed. Might sound "fun", but for my Type A personality, it's tough!

Hello fellow bed rester and type A personality! How's your af level? I had a +af test BUT they believe I wasn't a true rupture or it sealed over. At any rate, I started to dilate & funnel so they slapped me with the diagnosis of an incompetent cervix have me bedbound ;)
I'll assume that you're on complete br, too. I don't even have rr or shower privileges. I've made it 55 days (3wks in the hospital & the rest @ home) and have another 7 wks + 5 days to go.
I keep busy with my 2 boys 8 & 3. The internet helps and have been watching some movies here and there. Keep positive and happy thoughts. I know it's easier said than done, but I always think it could be worse : ) Hang in there!

Wow! I don't know how you do it with kids! Bedrest has been tough enough without kids. I give you major props!! How far along are you? I had a check up with the peri. today. My afi was at 13, so I am encouraged. I am still waiting to hear results back from the Amnisure. I haven't had leaking like I did when I had the AF leak, but I do feel wet down there often. They are checking just to make sure. Not to be gross, but what has your discharge been like? I get so nervous when it seems more watery than leukorea.
I'm assuming you are using a bed pan? How is that going? I am allowed rr and short showers. I would love to shave my legs & private area, but don't want to risk it. I'm Italian & I look like a monkey with all the hair that's grown since I've stopped shaving. :)

I did 6 1/2 weeks hospital bed rest last pregnancy due to my waters totally going at 20.6 weeks - it was hard. I kept having medical crisis's which is why i had to stay in hospital. The net book I am on now was something my hubby bought me to get through that time (I could have had 18 weeks on bed rest if baby hadn't come early). I also had a old gameboy colour from years ago and one game for it - tetris.... I played it for hours and hours and hours!!!! Hospital tv was expensive and rubbish... so I needed my gadgets to keep me going!!!

I had a private room with bathroom to myself at first - and was only allowed quick showers and to keep them to when needed. By the end of the 6 1/2 weeks I was allowed a little walk outside -literally to the lift down the lift and outside maternity to the wall - going out in fresh air after being in a boiling hot hospital was amazing.

I know its hard but you will get through it day by day.

I'm so glad you still have a nice AFI! Any positive news to hang on to is so important! You've hit the 24 wk mark & that's wonderful! When do you get your results back?
I'm 30wks +4days. I'd like to hang out until 39 wks if I'm able to. The bed pan isn't so bad, but my poor hubby and older son have become experts with it. I have to say I won't miss it one bit though.
I have to do sponge baths and have learned to shave and bathe in trendelenburg position. Desperate times calls for desperate measures ; )
I had a lot of wetness & different types of discharge. From watery to egg white consistency to globs. Always nerve-wracking! I was so paranoid when I was in the hospital, I'd even call my nurses to check it. As you can tell, I've lost all dignity & modesty! And you being a type A personality can relate to how horrifying this can be! My bff (also type A) & I have always talked about how awful bed rest would be! We had just ranted about it a few days before I went in! BUT I've had to let a lot go. I can't stress over certain things or I'd lose my sanity. I've learned to pick my battles.
You're doing great, take it day by day!
When I was first admitted, I was actually very watery wet. I thought I wet my pants! Then it happened again the very next day when I lifted my son. I felt a little pop & a small rush of fluid. I almost ignored it, but my family convinced me to go in.

I just wanted to send my sympathys to you - hang in there and try not to go loopy!

I've been stuck in bed / on the sofa for 3 days now (and likely to be more) with back problems and I'm already getting cabin fever!

Hi!

I'm on bed rest too and have been since about 5 weeks pregnant. I was actually about to get the "all clear" to a normal life when my bleeding started up again. I have a sub-choroniac haemorrhage which seemed to be under control but I guess not! Baby is doing OK but now I'm on indefinite bed rest. It's lonely and sometimes I feel forgotten by people. Everyone knows why I'm on bed rest but sometimes grumbling about my skipping things gets back to me. They know why I'm on bed rest! It's not like I'm doing it for my own amusement. But at least I'm allowed limited movement so the occasional, low-key outing with a friend is permitted.

I've been watching lots of TV. I get so involved that I must admit I yell at it sometimes. LOL I read a lot as well. DH is on unemployment so at least I have someone to look after me and to talk to.

Hey guys, just got put on *temporary* bedrest with reevaluation on Monday for Pre-eclampsia. I've run out of Dexter DVD's and am now bored! I can only be on the computer brief periods of time as I don't have a laptop and am already going insane, but if I'm upright too long my bp goes up and I start having contractions....Ah...bedrest....

I'm currently ttc and I already know that when I do find out i am pregnant my doctor will put me on bedrest after 12 weeks until I have the baby. Last pregnancy my water broke at 20 weeks and I was in the hospital for 5 weeks until my son came. Not fun at all.

So hang in there, i know it boring but hopefully i'll be able to join you all soon.

Glad there are others who understand. I'm half way through my bedrest, as I can get off at 34 weeks if things are stable. 50 days down & 50 to go! :) I hope you all (and your little ones) are doing well!

ettegirb21: So glad you're still hanging in there! You're doing wonderful!
I hit 33 wks and I'm still on complete bed rest and I'll be able to have bathroom privileges in 3 more weeks! 75 days down & 45 more to go!

No bathroom privileges?? Maybe I should stop crying about my bed rest. I'm not officially on strict bed rest. My OB said I could move about the house or go on short outings with friends if it's low key (ie sit down dinner) but the past few days my body has left me know I actually need to stick to bed as much as possible. Even sitting at the computer too long hurts me. DH has now set up the computer on the floor and laid out a make-shift mattress so I can still have some access to the outside world.

Going on week 11 with no end in sight (OB wrote a note to cover me until my due date in July)

I will be in your shoes once I get pregnant again. The doc said I will go on bedrest after a few weeks. I'm not looking forward to it at all either. Good luck to you and stick in there.
