Hiya

Well we found out #2 is a boy!! :D I am so scared as only used to lg but v.excited. Anyway I am a stresshead and have been thinking about room arrangements. Ours house is a small one kitchen, living room with stairs in, 2 bedrooms and bathroom. Its worth 24k less than what we paid for it 5 years ago! We are gonna swap sokiddies have the bigger room. They will share until maybe when our lg is 10? The room has 2 windows and is loveky. In 8 years I doubt we will be able to afford a new house and had an idea to extend or convert the loft but looking at costs and possibilities Im not sure this would be an option either. Eeeek. Other ideas are to maybe put a temp wall, screen or curtain down the centre of their room to make two small more private spaces. They would have to share the doorway and the other issue is the economy 7 heater is on the wall in between the 2 windows but it maybe that can be unused a get them a small heater each for their own 'space. Lol. My minds working overtime. Yes not ideal for seperate sex teens to sgare in a small home specially but Im sure it happens and has happened. They have a nice home and love and food which is important. So ladies any of you have siblings sharing and what do you think of my ideas if we cant move. Our house will be paid for by time im 50 aswell, 20 years time. Lol. Ideas, tips and advice welcome.

TIA

Xx

Hiya love. Didn't want to R&R, no real advice because we'll be in the same situation one day, although obviously I'm not expecting yet so we could have another girl lol, but no matter what theyd have to share. I suppose we'll cross our bridge when we get to it lol.

Good luck!!

Thanks hun. Atm we still have to get lo in her own room. Lol. We are gonnna try with her bed in our room and get her used to that. Could end up being 4 in the bed :D

Up until I was 14 me and my two brothers shared a room with a temporary partition wall down the middle. I had to go through my brothers room to get to mine. When we moved my brothers still had to share a room so they didn't get much more privacy then either.

There soooooo much stuff that cud happen in the next 10 yrs, house prices could rise n fall, u could get better jobs or even win the lottery. But for the immediate future i really wouldnt worry about them sharing.

Perhaps look into putting a extention/conservatory on the back. You can buy second hand conservatories for real cheap this way they can have sepearte places to play. Or look at the loft, you dnt have to convert it properly but just board it out with a sky light and pull down stairs so again they can have seperate place to play.

Thanks hun. We would need the house to rise by what its fell so far but way things are looking round here its going the opposite way. Lol. We dont have space for a conservatory on the back so would have to go for a small side extension but for that we would be looking at 20k+. Loft conversion would be the most likely option but cost wise its finding the cash, the space up to the loft would need to be made bigger as it is too narrow. Not sure how these conversions work with the big ass water tanks up there. Lol. We dont play lotto. Im staying inthe place I am working as I am happy there. It pays the bills. Lol. Hubby is looking for a new job but where he is pay v.well for what he does so of anything it would be a paycut. Lol. I am a stresshead and do like to get an idea for the future but can deffo see them staying sharing and having some sort of temp wall, dont know how these actually work but assume would probably be best option as things stand. Or a sofa bed in living area for me and hubby :D

Just a thought (perhaps no use) but we r in a 2bed flat n ours has lost value n we hav no deposit. Even as an owner, if u get a buyer u can get the council to class u as in housing need n then u can apply for shared ownership (we r just starting this journey). Even if this is an option in a few years when u may have regained a little of the house value? So u never know ur options. If it doesn't go thro for us we too will have kids sharing for the foreseeable!

We don't own our home, but it's a tiny 2 bedroom rental and I can't see us affording anything better in the coming years.

Our kids will be sharing a room once Sophie is sleeping through the night, we will be moving them into the bigger room, and they'll likely share until Thomas is 10 or so.

Thanks hun. I dont fancy going from an owner to shared ownership, I would rather stick a curtain down the centre. Lmao. I know a couple of people in a pickle due to shared ownership and cant sell to buy a place full ownership. I love our house as small as it is aswe have never had any issues, area is good whereas lots round here arent we both walk to work and its perfect location lol.

Im sure something will work out even if me and hubby end up on sofa bed. Lmao. Xx

If we were having another girl they were gna be sharing til they left home. Lmao.

Haha. Its the only other thing I can think of besides expensive extensions etc. Only issue is we woukdnt have much privacy as stairs are in the living room. Lol. Xx

We live in a 1 bed flat at the mo and our bed is in the front room. Not ideal but it
Works for now. I'd look at a false wall for now. 10 years a long time. All kinds of things can happen. I've got my fingers crossed for a fairy godmother!

I will keep my fxd for you hun.

It is a long time but I am not holding my breath for a new house. I have seen some lovely leather sofa beds. Lol. I keep thinking theres worse things in life than a teen having a room with a temp wall or screen. Lol. They will certainly learn to respect each others privacy. Maybe I could buy a cheap shed or caravan. Pmsl.
