been trying for ages now but nothing ever happens!

me and my boyfriend have been trying for a baby for 9 months now and nothing ever happens and AF ALWAYS shows up unwantedly! We are both 20 and been tgether for 5 years. Any ideas on what could be going wrong? i am getting really worried now that i could be infertile. please help! xxx

hello hun,

just wanted to let you know u r not alone. there are heaps of women here in the same situation. i am going onto 12th month ttc, and getting so worried now. im petrified im infertile and feel like a total failure because its taken this long. however, i do have friends who were trying longer than a year and conceived naturally in the end. if u r worried, u could go to gp and get some initial tests to make sure u r oving - they should do that for you at this stage.

You are definitely not alone. Although you may have fertility issues, in reality it can take up to a year for most healthy couples to conceive, and within 2 years over 89% will have conceived. Are your cycles regular? Have you tried charting or using opks? Keeping good track of your cycle can clue you in on any potential fertility issues, so if you aren't doing it now, it would be a great time to start.

The chance of getting pregnant every cycle for a healthy person is 25%. That doesn't increase or decrease next cycle, so no matter how long it has taken there's still a 25% chance the next cycle. I would assume, at your age, (I'm 21) you should be pregnant by 1 year and if you haven't had any luck by then I would consult your doctor. My specialist was really surprised that I am having trouble conceiving at my age.

I'm on cycle 15 and still nothing !
I went to gp after 7 months but was told to come back at 12 months as I would most likely be pregnant ! Went back after 12 months, and gp gave us following tests
my cd 21 bloods
swabs for me to check for infection
dh sa
pelvic scan which shows I have polycystic ovaries
so now waiting for my fs app which is in 2 weeks
I would suggest going to doc and being persistant because the process is so slow, on my experience !

Hiya, i'm new here. Been ttc#2 for 18mths, had bloods at day 7 and 21, scan, cervical swab, hsg and after all that got told I had unexplained infertility!! That was in may, doc said I could have clomid or leave it for 6 mths, which I did as I was completely drained with the whole thing! Hubby and I have said if nothing happens this month we going back. I think I have a luteal phase defect as I spot 4/5 days before af arrives, anybody else suffer with this? It's so nice to be able to talk to people in same situation x

I have also been trying for a while and indeed it does get very scary when Drs keep saying that everything is fine with us both just relax etc etc it will happen soon

This is my 13th Month of TTC, i have read all books i have used OPK, Pre-Seed through my fertile window, had an internal ultrasound to see if im Ovulating, Yet my DR doesnt want to see me till after 15Months (Dec) , Its very very deflating when Month after Month shows her face! never in a zillion years did I ever think it would take this long? I guess the show must go and every Period brings a new cycle to try again
