We've been trying for over a year now and wasn't sure when i should post in this section. We're now classed as infertile but i know a year isnt as long as some people so felt stupid posting in here in case you thought i was silly...

I've taken the plunge and posted here though so a little about us...

Im Leanne im 19 and mother to DD. DH is not my daughters biological father but he is her daddy. He's 20 and he's called paul. I've been and had day 21 bloods done and am certainly ovulating but i can't seem to get DH to go for a SA done. Until he has this SA done my doctor wont do anymore tests on me as until the SA the doctor will assume the problem lies with DH!

Im so frustrated with him, we both want another child as much as each other he just doesn't see the need to go.

Anyways... That's me.

xx

It can be harder for men to get tested than women. Men judge everything on the state of their penis, how good a man they are etc and if there is an issue with the sperm, they see it as failure as a man. We know it's stupid but it's the way they think.

Try to encourage him a bit, offer to book it for him. Some places ask you to do it at home (2 of the 3 my hubby did were at home), offer to help him. Plus, the idea of 'doing it with a cup' isn't in most guys list of top ten turn ons.

Good luck, I hope he goes for it soon. X

my husband was nervous to, he is in the low sperm group, and to be honest the support hes gotten from friends and work, since he found out (he doesnt keep it a secret no more) is amazing! theres nothing to be nervous about in fact its better to be informed then anything!

Hi there! I've been on this forum, too, but haven't posted much. I was little nervous like you :)

I've been TTC for nearly 18 months now. This is my second month doing lab work, and my doctor seems to think I'm ovulating right when AF shows due to high FSH levels. I have CD 21 labs Friday, with my DH getting his SA on Saturday. I'm also scheduled to get an HSG within two weeks as well.

They are letting us collect the sample from home which is great! The only downside being, that you have to make sure you keep it warm (haha yuck) and bring it in within an hour.

I can see this being really uncomfortable for men, especially for the points made above. At the end of the day though, we're all going through this for the hopes of having a baby, so try to get him to focus on that :)

hi ive been with my bf for 5 1/2years im 22 hes 26, he gas a 7tr old from a previous and from day 1 to now we've never concieved! your very lucky 2 have a beautiful girl, so i wouldnt be overly concerned at a year of trying, my bf been for 3 SA (says not as bad as thought if that helps) better to get it done, my bfs got a low count and low motility ive had a couple of test and nothings flashing red as a problem!! very frustrating, keep your chin up babes xxx

lol just read that again- i mean "he has a 7yr old from a previous" not he gas...... stupid phone! xxx

Thank you all for welcoming me. We've spoke about it tonight and hes worried i'll see him as less of a man if he has sperm issues. We're going to get an appointment at the doctors together :).

Good deal! My DH just did his sperm analysis this morning. Best of luck to you both!

Good luck.

My fella has done it six times. The first time he was dreading it but it wasn't as bad as he thought. The sixth time he did it he couldn't care less. Just wanted it over with. I think it helped that he saw what I had to do and didn't like to complain. Especially after watching me cry with pain after a HSG.

When everyone met with their RE for the first time, how did that go? I'm going next month (just did the SA and my third round of blood work) and didn't know how appointments normally worked.
