I was hoping that anyone out there who is on bedrest or admitted would be my buddy as I know its going to be lonely and boring. I went to labor and delivery today (my doctor wanted me to have prolonged fetal monitoring) I was on the monitor for 4 hours, they did an ultrasound on me and took blood. My labs came back good, the baby looked great for the most part and my blood pressure was up to about 150/100 at its highest and they said they found fluid around the babies abdomen and I have excessive amniotic fluid. They did not really specify why I was being admitted other than to monitor the baby so as you can imagine I am pretty worried. I don't understand why they cant seem to tell me anything.. I don't recommend googling things either! I hope there is someone out there willing to talk with me and/or anyone who can relate..

Thanks all!

I'm not sure about the baby having fluid around the abdomen, but I would guess they want to monitor your blood pressure. That's really high. Sometimes they can give you meds to bring it down, and other times they have to deliver you early especially if they think youre developing pre eclampsia. I don't know. . Keep us posted!! I will be thinking about you. ..

Sounds like its a blood pressure issue as that is very very high. I am being monitored for bp and I'm in a home monitoring program and was told that if my bp reaches 150 top number and/or 100 bottom number that I have to ring the case room and go in right away. Hopefully they can lower it with meds so you don't need to deliver early. Its too bad when docs don't explain things to patients...causes so much more worry!! Goodluck hun xx

Thanks, I ended up having her that evening. They took her via C-section. She is in the NICU. It was the fluid around her abdomen they were concerned about. She had perforated her bowel while in utero. She is doing much better now and gets stronger everyday. She was born at 35 weeks and was already 7pounds 9ounces. She will hopefully be able to come home soon. I will say that C-sections hurt! Ouch! But other than that we are both doing well! Thanks for the well wishes!

Oh wow! Congrats. Glad she's doing better. Hope you heal well from the c/s.

Thank you so much! We were both fortunate they delivered me when they did! Had you had a C-section before? Do you know how long the pain lasts for?

I had a planned c/s which is easier to heal from than an emergency c/s. I was sore for a couple of weeks. I limited using stairs and didn't drive for about a week. I think I started light exercise about 6 weeks after? I can't remember. I was pretty sore after one walk at the beginning so definitely take it easy. I was exercising regularly about 2 full months after the c/s.

Thanks so much for the reply!!! It has been 10 days since mine, so I am hoping in a few days I will feel better! lol
