Ugh. I never thought that I would have to go this route, but I'm here.

I had a miscarriage last May, and since then my cycles have been shorter and more painful. I had hormone levels checked and my estrogen and progesterone are too low, and my uterine lining is a bit thin. Basically, there are issues with my luteal phase.

I have no idea what to expect. I guess I'm just saying hi!

The first visit could be either just sitting down with the doctor and discussing your history and what tests to run, or he/she could go ahead and start testing at the first visit.

They will probably do day 3 and 21 blood tests and ultrasounds (even if they were already done at your regular obgyn). This will confirm that you are ovulating and they will be able to measure your lining at certain points in the cycle to see if it is ok. If your estrogen and progesterone are off, they will be able to help you get those regulated. They may do a HSG to make sure both tubes are open and nothing is damaged.

I'm really sorry about your miscarriage. Going to the RE seems overwhelming, but it will actually help once you start testing and hopefully get some answers!

I'm sorry about your m/c hunny, but I am glad you are getting yourself to an RE. I haven't gotten my BFP yet, but I feel so much more confident about things going to my RE than I did with my regular OB/Gyn. The level of treatment is more intense and I feel like we are finally moving forward.

I wish you lots of luck at your first visit! I hope they come up with a great testing/treatment plan for you!

Thanks! My hubby's name is Aaron too! Wishing you luck in your journey as well!

I know it's scary to make that first RE appointment, but once you're there and you're on the road to figuring out what's going on, it's a really good feeling. I hope that you're happy with your doctor because that makes all the difference in the world. My RE makes me feel like I am his only patient. He never rushes me and I feel 100% confident in him. I hope you have a positive experience. Be prepared for tests, tests and more tests! Hang in there!
