So my mums pretty much said that I can't live in the house if im keeping the baby so i need to sort money out! For everyone on benefits what are you entitled to?? And how do I apply?

Thanks x

How old are you? And do you work or in college etc? And where will you live if you cant live with your mum? Or do you need benefits for housing too? Sorry for the questions! Dont know your situation so not sure what you can get yet :flower:

i was thinking the same thing about benefits. i want to move out soon before the baby arrives. im 17, anyone know what im entitled to?x

Best advice is to go to citizens advice (at your local town hall normally) and tell them your situation. They will help and also get you all the forms you need to apply for everything. All of it is a long process so don't expect cash immediately!
Good luck

The only things I know about are the pregnancy grants. You should be entitled to Income Support from 29 weeks pregnant. And once your on I.S you should be able to apply for the Sure Start Grant which is £500, and the Health In Pregnancy Grant, which is £190. You can also apply for Healthy Start Vouchers, which helps with fruit, veg and milk (gives you tokens for them.)

Go to your local council or ring them. Or go on the direct.gov website and there is a 'what am i entitled to' part (However, if your not over 18 it may not let you do it online, your better actually taking in person/phone)

Good luck, hope all works out.

i read somewhere that your midwife should have the details so when i meet her will ask about it etc.

thanks for the info hun xx

It all depends on your personal circumstances but you will definitely get the HIP grant, your mw will provide you with the form. As the other girls said you are best to go to your local citizens advice bureau and explain to them xx

You'll get housing benefits if you're living away from family and on income support/job seekers or earn less than £74 a week (you'll still get some benefit if you earn a bit over but not a full payout and it's completely dependant on the condition of where you're living and the price of rent, and you can't live with family to get this) also it rarely covers your rent entirely e.g I get £84 a week and my rent is £100. you'll also get child tax credits and child benefits after the baby's born on top of this depending on your situation

It depends on your circumstances, whether you are a single parent or not. You can claim Income Support from 29 weeks of pregnancy through until baby is 13 weeks old if you are a couple, at which point your partner will need to claim Jobseeker's Allowance although you will be excused from signing. If you are a single parent, then you can stay on Income Support, not sure for how long though coz the government are reducing the age your child has to be. At the moment it's until they are 5. Since the recent welfare reform, the maternity grant is now only available for the first child you have, so if it's your first you should be able to get that. However, the £190 Health in Pregnancy grant has now been scrapped unless you reach 25 weeks of pregnancy before 1st January 2011. Hope this helps x
