Any recommendations? My 16 month old uses plastic spoons and his fingers but I think he's ready to try using a fork.

A lot of ones I've come across, the reviews say that the fork is no good at actually 'spearing' the food.

Can anyone recommend any good cutlery sets with good forks?

Thanks :)

Was thinking plastic but I guess metal would be ok and maybe better?

I got a set of metal cutlery from poundworld, i think it was winnie the pooh. They're quite thin and light but they work really well. Also I think we have a set that we got from dunhelm mill which are metal with plastic handles.

My lo has just started using the ikea toddler cutlery. The fork actually spears food so he gets really excited when he gets a piece of food. The old cutlery we used was so blunt it just ended up frustrating him.

Hi, we got ours from boots. They have a good range to choose from.

We got these:

They come in different colours. My twins started on them at about 16 months too and seem to get on well with them. Dont really use the knife yet though. But the fork it defo good for spearing.

Ooh, they look good. The fork doesn't look too blunt like some I've seen.

Yeah, I was impressed with them. I didnt shop around though just picked them up on a whim cos I had some vouchers!
The fork is just like a regular fork but shorter and they seem to manage well with it.

We got ours from Ikea. Proper cutlery, just smaller. We also pinched a couple of cake forks from my mum. To be honest though, I've seen a lot of toddlers just using adult cutlery and they seem to manage fine.

We have the Ikea set too, just like normal cutlery but smaller. I wanted metal as plastic ones just didn't work and I wanted a set with a knife too. Most sets I saw only had a fork and spoon.

We have the tommee tippee set, the spoon's pretty crap though tbh. Lucas gets on ok with the fork but we often just give him a proper one to use. We haven't got as far as using the knife lol.

Zane got a set with his name engraved from a catalogue as part of his 1st birthday present. He never looked back... refused to use anything but that ONE fork. I just had to wash it 4 times a day lol
Eventually I found some the same in 99p store, and bought like 10 sets of them haha

If you find them, get ones that are slim/narrow. Like normal cutlery but smaller in every way. We always found that baby cutlery was too chunky he couldn't fit the end into his mouth so it was messy and would frustrate him. He's 3.5yrs and still using the same cutlery now... it's perfect for him. Stainless steel, slim, lightweight. Knives are useless though, he demands a proper knife >.<

I second IKEA. The set of knife, fork and spoon is relatively inexpensive (think around £3) and unlike some others we've tried, actually allows my DS to spear things like slippery pasta himself.

We like these, spoon is much better than on the tommie tippee set https://www.tesco.com/direct/munchkin-mighty-grip-utensil-set/213-7300.prd

Another vote for Ikea, the metal set. They're not the cheapest but are durable and just like smaller versions of adult ones which is ideal :)

We have several of these, it's the only set I've found with a spoon that's actually a spoon and not a flat round piece of metal!

I used the tesco loves baby ones but I'll be honest I'd love to try and find some sets of just multiple forks!!
