Hey twin mums, just wanted to get your input on what double strollers you've found to be the best or worked the best for you? I've been looking at the Graco Quattro Tour Double Stroller and the Chicco Cortina Double stroller. I like the idea of being able to pop their carseats into the stroller, but is that actually feasible or is it really hard to maneuver with the extra weight? I'm just over 5 feet tall and 120 lbs (9 weeks pregnant) so I need a stroller I can easily get around with. I've read that while side-by-side strollers are easier to maneuver, they don't always fit through doors and aisles very well.
What are your thoughts and suggestions?
Thanks!

I am interested in this topic too. I have been doing a lot of reading including reviews of many double strollers. I also want to get a travel system which is added convenience, but also added cost because you use infant car seats with the travel system and have to get new car seats later. We have ruled out a side by side because of the width issue. The reviews of the tandem strollers all complain that is it like pushing around a stretch limo because it is soo long.

As of right now we have settled on the Baby Jogger City Select. The stroller starts as a single, then you get a 2nd seat adapter, and then 2 car seat adapters. It is more expensive than some, but it will also be our only stroller (besides a cheapie one for when we do things separately with the twins). With some travel systems, I felt like I would want a jogger later on, so the price ends up balancing out.

The Baby Jogger City Select has great reviews and has been recommended by a friend with twins. I like the idea of it because of all the ways to arrange the seats, and the kid in the back isn't staring at the back of the front kids seat.

If anyone has experience with this stroller, please share.

This looks awesome. Love all the different seating options, especially the bassinet one. I'm thinking at first when they are still pretty small, they'd probably like to be together still and they can just snuggle in the bassinet together until they get bigger and ride in their carseats.

I have the Baby Jogger Double City Mini (side by side) and love it:thumbup:

It fits through my front door and all shops so far. You can't use it with car seats but this never bothered me as they recommend babies don't spend too long in car seats anyway so we got the carrycots.

I think you firstly need to decide if you're a side by side or One in front the other. I like side by side as both babies had equal viewpoints and it could accommodate both until I no longer needed a stroller. I test pushed the one in front of the other type but it did feel like a stretch limo. I'd try pushing a few types and see what works best xx

We really need a double stroller sticky! It's something that gets asked often, and we all want to find the perfect twin stroller since they're so expensive and tricky.

FWIW.... in my survey of twin moms, most prefer the side-by-side options once the babies are over 6 months because the babies are happier if they can both see and interact with each other. Before that it doesn't really matter. The Baby Jogger Double City Mini that Debbie mentions seems to be one of the few that can fit through a regular door and it gets really good reviews. (The Schwinn Turismo also fits through a regular door.)

I plan to get a side-by-side soon. (Probably the same one as Debbie.) However, for now, I use the Double Snap 'n Go. It's a million times smaller and lighter than the big bulky tandem strollers. (It easily fits in the trunk of my car). I simply snap their car seats on the frame and we're off. I highly recommend it. Best of all, it's inexpensive!

I also have the side by side baby jogger city mini and I love it. It's easy to manoeuvre and the girls have the same viewpoint.

I haven't had a problem getting through any shop doors but it doesn't fit through my house doors! Luckily though I have a garage attached do I use that to get the girls in and out.

At first I wanted a tandem travel system but the ones I tried were so heavy and hard to move without any children in it and worked out a lot more expensive.

Good luck in choosing. x

Thanks ladies! I will check out your recommendations.
I figured this questions must've been asked before, I went back several pages and didn't see anything on it so just started a new thread. It really should be a sticky! :dohh:

I've also got the Baby Jogger side by side - I really like it.

The only down side for me is the carrycots. They are fab but they state up to 6 months, there is no way my girls will be in them till then think they will have another month at the most! And also when out in the car it's a real chore dismantling with the carrycots on and off! I find I walk most places as it's easier! x

I agree, carrycots were great for when they were newborn and tiny but I've already stopped using. My boys like to look about and wouldn't be content lying flat. I wouldn't have been without them but it's a lot of money for a couple of months.

Does the side-by-side work for infants on its own or do you need the carrycots? How has it been with twins taking them from the car seat to the stroller/back to the car seat? I have always envisioned a travel system so when running errands, I wouldn't have to disturb sleeping babies by getting them out of their car seat and putting them in the stroller. I think this is the baby jogger with two carrycots, yes?

We also looked at the snap and go. This is a cheap alternative where you snap in the infant seats, but you still need new car seats when they get older...and a new stroller.

That's the one. You don't need the carrycots as the Baby Jogger on it's own is suitable from birth but whilst the boys were small I thought the carrycots looked comfier.

I never had any problems moving them from car sear to buggy. If they woke when moved they'd fall back asleep once moving.

Now at 3 months my boys like a nosey so they wake once moved but are happy to look about.

Also the Baby Jogger must be the easiest buggy to fold and open up.

Hmmm, I am re-thinking our whole stroller plan. I definitely think it is the hardest decision out of ALL the baby gear.

Me too lol. I'm almost thinking of getting a cheaper single stroller with just a bassinet/carrycot and putting them in it together until they get to the max weight then just using the side by side baby jogger. So many decisions!

Have you looked into the baby trend double snap and go? That's what we registered for, and then a double jogger... but the snap n go you just take your infant car seats and snap them onto the frame! :) No disturbing them, or creating extra work for you with the in and out of one thing into the other and back again! Plus you can chose if you want them facing each other, you, or to the front..

I got the StrollAir My Duo... Side by side, and takes two infant carriers. Haven't used it yet, but did a LOT of research before we bought this one.

CaliGirl, that's the stroller frame I was talking about. I recommend it highly! By using it for now, I didn't have to worry about whether our longterm stroller of choice could accommodate infants.

SanFran- I agree that it's the toughest decision of all the baby gear. It's hard not to get sucked in by all the fancy options.

HLanders, that stroller looks awesome! However, I can't bear the thought of spending that much money on an item that we won't really use that much. I live in an area where we have to drive to get anywhere meaningful, and we don't bother trying to go shopping with the twins. So a stroller is really just something we use when we go for a walk.

So as my cheaper alternative... I'll probably get the Baby Jogger City Mini or the Schwinn Turismo Swivel Wheel (https://www.target.com/p/schwinn-turismo-swivel-wheel-double-jogg/-/A-14176522#?lnk=sc_qi_detaillink)

I have the Graco Quattro Tour Duo, and I think it's pretty easy to move around with both car seats on it. I like the idea of just moving the car seats around, rather than the babies. But that's just my personal preference. Once they're older I want to get a jogging side by side, but for now this will be perfect for us. I don't think it's hard to drive or anything. It's easy to fold up, bulky yes, but what do you expect with a double stroller.

Thanks so much everyone. These are all great suggestions and now its just about picking one and not looking back! Or two, haha!

Wonder- thats funny!! We registered for that baby trend double snap n go and then this jogger!! :haha: Same thought process!!

I've had 4 different pushchairs with my twins the first 3 within 6mnts!! I then brought the baby jogger city mini double and never looked back! It's a brilliant pushchair and I really wish I had brought this from the very start. It's easy to push and so comfy my two sleep in it during the day. The handle bar is such a great height me at 5 5 and my husband at 6 2 both find it comfortable to push. It folds down nice and easy and very flat when folded. I can't recommend this pushchair enough.
