I'm bf and bottle feeding. My baby is 6 wks tmrw and has been suffering with excruciating wind which causes him to cry a huge amount. He wakes every hr -hr 1/2 at nite. Been suffering for about 2 wks now. I use Aptamil and his wind does coincide with him starting the bottle. I've heard sum formulas r better for colic / wind. Does any1 have any experience of this? / advice?
Thanx :hugs:

Have you considered using different bottles? Dr Browns or breastflow are meant to be good. Im not about formula though.

Good luck.x.

Dr Browns bottles should help reduce the amount of wind your LO takes in when feeding.

Is it bottom wind that seems to be hurting? My DS had trouble with it, and a little cool boiled water each day helped a lot. It takes a couple of days to see a major improvement though, so keep at it if you give it a try - 1/2 - 1oz per day should be plenty.

SMA is the only formula that is especially likely to cause problems, the others are all much the same. You can get easy digest formulas which can be very helpful with this kind of problem - this is what I used in the end. However, I wouldn't switch to it without talking to HV first, as it's a lot more filling than stage 1 formula (its nearer to stage 2 in thickness), and could slow your LO's weight gain a bit.
