I dunno if I am too early to shop for stretch mark products but I am planning to buy Weleda Pregnancy Body Oil(it has arnica in it so dunno if its safe but its reviews are amazing) and Varnya Stretch mark oil(custom blend). Have any of you tried these?

Would love to know what helped you:)

This is my first pregnancy and I would do anything to avoid those stretch marks :)

I read a post on here (but I can't find it again now!) recommending a decleor product. I went and bought some the other week, but the lady said not to use until 2nd tri. So you might just want to check that the same doesn't apply to what you've bought. Although you're nearly there!!

Thanks ladies:) Bio oil's reviews are great but I am a little concerned because they use mineral oil as base.

In the book "what to expect when your expecting" it advises not to waste money on these products. It explains that stretch marks can be prevented with good diet and a STEADY weight gain. If you avoid gaining quickly and encourage sin elasticity with good diet and excersice you can manage then you will not get stretch marks. However if you gain quickly no amount of any moisturizer will stop them. Creams and oils will only moisturise from the outside they will not prevent or even minimize your stretch marks.

honestly ladies, dont waste your money. i use my doppler every day (sometimes more than once) and ran out of the gel so i have been using tanning oil/baby oil. i only put it on the right side bc thats where baby is and in the past 2 weeks i have noticed that the stretchmarks on only my right side have literally disappeared. now i put the oil on my entire stomach twice a day, let it sit a few minutes then wipe it off.

Bellaxgee, thank you:) When did your stretch marks start to appear?

I use vaseline cocoa butter. It is really soothing on my skin. I dont have any stretch marks yet, and I am hoping that they will stay away.

Here is the link to the products. They smell good too. I use the deep conditioning cream

Hay - i used babyoil from the moment i found out i was pregnant with both DS and DD (and again now) up until i gave birth, i used it every day in the shower and on the bump as it got bigger and i don't have a single stretch mark, my sister also swore by babyoil during her two pregnancies.

I suspect it definately makes a difference on what type of skin you have and how much weight you put on but babyoil is cheap and makes your skin super soft so its worth a go!!

I wouldn't waste your money on anything expensive. A good lotion or oil to help with dryness or itching, but nothing is going to stop strectch marks if you are prone to them! I've never put a drop of any lotion on my belly, and I didn't get any last pregnancy and none so far with this one, but I know people that have used bio oil and had none or ended up with a roadmap of them. Its genetics, and how your weight is gained. :-)

I agree, its genetics, what you eat / how much fluid you drink and how elastic your skin is anyway. You either get them or you dont, I dont think oils / creams help. Although saying that I think they make your skin feel more comfortable as you get bigger

to be honest with you the research says that scratch mark are more genetic and depends on skin type and no oils or moisturisers will help. I use Bio Oil sometimes when i remember but to be honest i don't really believe it's gonna help. My mum and gran they both have scratch marks and i've got some from me being chubby. So it's all in genes, ladies

apparantly none of these stretch mark preventing oils and lotions actually work, theres no evidence of this anyways! saying that, as soon as i found out i was expecting i stocked up on bio oil (which i find to be far too greasy and uses up too quickly) and palmers cocoa butter. so far i have none on my tummy but a few on my breasts and thighs but i had these before pregnancy so hoping the cocoa buter helps before they get any worse. x

I used Palmers cocoa butter with my LO and didn't get a single stretch mark. I think a lot of it is genetic though as I have naturally very soft and supple skin.

I have heard lots of sides on this. Apparently things like cocoa butter and bio oil don't work because they target the top layer of the skin and stretchmarks come from way deeper than that. but i guess it works for some people and not for others. i know ladies who have used it every day only to be covered in stretchmarks, and I didn't use anything at all in my last pregnancy and i got no stretchmarks. I won't be buying any I reckon its a waste of money to be honest, but thats just my thoughts on it. :)

wether the cocoa butter actually prevents or helps stretch marks, i dont know but i will be continuing to use it for the rest of my pregnancy as i find it leaves my skin so soft and healthier looking! i cover myself in it after a shower or bath, its great x

My family got stretch marks with each pregnancy....I was determined NOT too. I looked online for products and found spoiled mama TUMMY BUTTER & BUMP GLOSS for stretch marks. They claimed to be organic, safe during pregnancy, even while breastfeeding....everything I wanted to hear. It is kinda pricey so I really took a gamble on it and prayed it would work to prevent my dreaded family curse of stretch marks.

When it arrived I ran to my bedroom, undressed and slapped the cocoa butter concoction all over my body. It smelled amazing, I wanted to eat it...but more importantly- will it work? YES,YES,YES!!!

After 6 months and 60lbs (I know crazy) I only got one tiny stretch mark on my hip! My tummy is left with ZERO stretch marks! I swear by SPOILED MAMAS TUMMY BUTTER (bump gloss too)!! I was skeptical at first but it really is amazing and totally worth it!!

BTW- I asked my OB if creams would help with preventing SM and she didn't want to comment. She did recommend to use lotions/oils that are free from parabens, petroleum and mineral oil, since they don't allow ingredients to "penetrate" your skin. I found PALMERS, BABY OIL, VASELINE LOTION all contain these ingredients. SO READ YOUR INGREDIENT LABELS- don't be fooled by the word: organics!!!
