I have been advised that I may have had a biochemical pregnancy after a successful :bfp:, At the hospitals request because I was bleeding I did another pregnancy test a CB digi with conception indicator 1 week and 1 day after my proper test date and it showed 3+ meaning I would be over 5 weeks pregnant which is exactly right. So they called me in for an internal scan at 5 weeks and 3 days to which I was told there was no sign of pregnancy as my lining was thin and they could not see a sack but it is probably too early, I get my blood results Monday as they are concerned that my HCG is still high but they don't think it is eptopic, So they think it is biochemical so after my life story just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this or heard of anyone else. I will find out more on Monday but I just hate this waiting lark, Just when you think it's all gone right this happens this IVF is a horrible game and I don't like playing anymore !!!!! :growlmad:

Didn't want to read and run hon. Sorry you are in such limbo - haven't had any experience like this myself but just wanted to say I hope you get some answers soon. xxx

hi bugs

so sorry to hear you in limbo hun. hope you get some answers on monday. ive had 2 early miscarriages which is what it is (biochemical sounds so clinical) both of mine were after frozen embryo transfer and i started bleeding before i got to 6 weeks. i notice your in merseyside are you at liverpool womens hospital? thats where im having my treatment. im surprised they scanned you i phoned on monday when i started bleeding i was 5+5 and the nurse said theres no point scanning me as they wont see anything that early. they just told me to test again in a week.

Hi wrightywales, Yes I am at the womens. I think they told me to come in because I had been bleeding the week before which stopped and then I started bleeding again with cramping so I think they wanted to check it wasn't eptopic which we still don't know. The scan showed that my lining was thin and they could not see a sac but she said it's too early. My HCG on Thursday was 2715 so I've got to go back on Monday so they can confirm as there was 2 things on the scan she wasn't sure about.

I feel for you having 2 early miscarriages I had just started enjoying it and we had told a few people for it to be taken away so suddenly is just devastating but on we roll for cycle #2.

Are you going to have another cycle at the Womens? How have you found the treatment there I can't decide really.

Hi Bugs,
Just wondering what the 2 other things where on the scan that they were not sure about? As u can see i have had 2 ectopics and might be able to help u a bit xxx

Thay said there was swelling in one of my fallopian tubes but that had already been noted on my day 9 scan before egg collection as fluid so she said it may not be eptopic and she said there was a shadow by one of my ovaries that she wasn't sure about so she took pictures to show the consultant so hopefully they will see more on Monday i'm not hopeful though coz I'm still bleeding so there can't be much left in there to come out xxx

Ok. Read my reply to you on my ivf questions thread. Don't want to scare u but better to be informed xxx

Wow, I'm so sorry this is happening to you. From experience, I know it's hard to see anything on such an early scan, so i wouldn't lose hope yet.
I think the HCG results will give you a better idea for the next week.

I just had an early MC, but my bleeding was heavy/clotty and my HCG numbers dropped like a stone, nothing like what you describe xx

Fingers crossed for you, hope that your baby is hanging on tight & this is nothing more than a scare xxxx

I will update the thread on Monday when we know more coz I think it is really helpful I know I have been right through these forums on my 2 week wait and there's nothing worse when you don't find out the outcome, The nurse at the hospital wasn't very hopeful but they never are. I don't think they want to get your hopes up, I did have 2 good quality embies put back so I would be absolutely delighted if I had still one hanging on and the bleeding is from the other we live in hope but it has also had to contend with the large quantity of wine I've drank over the past 2 days :wine: (Well it's been a long time) xxx

I'm sorry you're having to deal with the uncertainty, bugs. That just stinks.
At 5+ weeks, I would think they'd be able to see a gestational sac, but maybe it's too soon?
Here's hoping that at least one of the little embies is clinging on!

Hi bugs,
Sorry to hear you're going through this. I had a chemical pg after my first IVF too. My HCG was really low at the first blood test, so I kind of suspected it might happen.. but I had to do what you're doing now and wait for a follow up test over the weekend to confirm, which was horrible.
I drank a lot of wine too, so I think you are onto a good strategy there :)
Thinking of you :hugs:

hi bugs

fingers crossed your numbers are doubling hun and it was just to early to see anything.
yeah i will be hopefully starting a fresh cycle in a few months this will be my last so hope it works. my treatment is on the NHS and i found the hospital to not be the best. weve only see the consultant 3 times through my whole treatment and ive been through 1 fresh cycle and 2 frozen. i have found a couple of the nurses that are nice but they need to sort there phones out the amount of times ive been trying to get in touch for 1/2 hour to an hour before i get to talk to someone and they are not the best when saying they will ring you back. i waited over a week at one point for someone to ring me bk. at times i have felt like just a number with that hospital iykwim

will be hoping and praying everything is fine tomorrow :hugs: xxxx

I know what you mean the phones just ring out for ages, I think all the nurses we have had have been really nice but I think they are still behind the private clinics. Because we are self funding anytime I ask the nurses what we have to pay for they never know and when having treatment they told me to buy an extra prescription of menopur coz they thought I might need it but it was never mentioned so when I asked about getting my money back she was really rude and said because i'd took it off the premises they would'nt refund it. They were suppossed to be getting back to me but no one bothered as it is I can use it next time but it's the principle of it !!!!

I'll see what happens tomorrow but I might look at other clinics xxx

Thanks Africa Queen, Well you were spot on it was eptopic So I had to have my tube removed to take it out and because I have damage to the other tube as well they gave me the option to have that removed at the sametime because if we have IVF again the same thing could happen, So i'm now tubeless but the consultant thinks that by doing this we have improved our chances for next time because everything else on the cycle went perfect. They think that when the embryo is put back in it floats around and a lot of the time it works it's way up into the tube and then floats back down and imbeds but because I had damaged tubes it has got stuck. So on the plus side the IVF worked but it just got comfy in the wrong place, So I think we're going to have a break for a bit and then start a fresh cycle next year XXXX

So sorry to hear this has happened to you bugs, how awful, you poor thing :hugs:

Sending

So sorry to hear about the ectopic. This whole business of becoming a family can be so horrible...

I think I am having a chemical pregnancy too with my first round of IVF. A week ago I was so happy to finally have a BFP with my DH - so we can start planning how we want our family life to be at last! Just woken up (4.30am here) to see I'm bleeding bright red blood - but I've felt something had been different the last couple of days. I'm 5+1 today. REALLY angry. Don't want to play this game anymore... but want a baby more than anything!

Need to book an appointment to see the consultant again - he'll ask if I want to do IVF again... I do, just not like this!!!!

Hi St Tropez sorry to hear what your going through, I know any kind of loss is hard but when you've battled your way through IVF and to finally get that BFP only to have it taken away is just so cruel xxx My only advice would be to make sure it is biochemical as thats what they told me only my HCG levels were still high I had to wait 4 days for them to find the ectopic.

I know it's hard to think of the next step but I am trying to be positive I got one step further with IVF than I ever did naturally so I'm thinking really positive for next time and can't wait to get started. It will happen for us all soon enough and we'll all make fab mums xxxx

Good Luck xxxxxx
