hi all, just wondering if anyone would be able to give me some advice as im stressing a little. im due to be induced next week and i decided a couple of weeks ago that for the sake of our lo, my ex should be on the birth certificate. ive just seen that they are introducing a new law in autumn that requires fathers to be named and i think them to sign. just wondering if anyone knew when this comes into law, and if i qualify in getting him to sign it since lo will be here next week. he doesnt wish to acknowldge the existence of his child but im hoping this law requires him to have his name on even though he doesnt want to be. should i contact him and tell him the situation? as much as i hate him i wouldnt wish the courts to hassle him if it can be avoided. xx

I think the new law you are referring to is just a bill at this stage so become law unless it is passed through parliment and even then will take some time. There are applications that can be made to the court if he doesnt agree to sign, your best bet is to contact a family law solicitor and ask for some advice hun xx

thanks very much, think i might just do that xx
