Hey,

I will be getting some form of contraception at my 6 week PP visit. I just wanted to hear from you girls about your experiences with whatever birth control you are using. I want a hormonal method that is more long term, with the least amount of human error possible. I am awful at remembering to take the pill.

I'm thinking of an IUD (not sure whether i'll go with mirena or paragard- I like the thought of paragard not having any hormones though) or Implanon.

I've heard a lot of horror stories about birth control that makes you have a constant period (especially with IUDs) so I am really trying to avoid that.

If you have anything to say, please do :) Hope you're all doing well and have happy healthy babies!!

I have a mirena, I haven't had any problems, my period now only last a day or two, but I still get pms
barely hurts being put it and last 5 yrs
my boyfriend has had a vasectomy as well lol so we are super super safe :haha:

I just had an implant put in so watch this space...my doctor said generally coils didn't cause a lot of problems with bleeding though :D

I have had the patch (was allergic to it ) ended up getting pregnant,

I Also have had birth control Pills ( was allergic ) ended up getting pregnant with Jaymee

They gave me the lowest dose of BC pills they could and they worked until I stopped taking them Which is how I got pregnant with this baby ,

Im hoping that I can get an IUD after this baby , I really want to get my tubes tired but they wont let me til im 25. So IUD would be my best bet I think less hassle less having to remember it Less worry.

I was on the pill, it was fine for me.
The good points were that i knew exactly when i was going to come on, periods were lighter than before i'd taken it
bad points: i put on weight, i forgot to take it (hence the fact im on here)

I am now using the depo provera (sp?) injection
at 1st i hated it i bled for the full time but atfer the 2nd and 3rd time i was fine, only bleed for 3 days not heavy at all more like spotting
good points: you dont have to worry about taking it, it's lasts for a couple of months
bad points: if you dont like it your stuck with it till it wears off, it hurts a little bit and im not sure if it's worked for me .. fingers crossed it has but dont know as of yet.

i have the mirena too, no problems only had one period, then had one AF that was light spotting and then nothing :happydance:

no side effects so far. I put on over a stone when i was on the pill before but on the mirena i had nothing  and i even lost over a stone ;) x

I had the injection... FAILED (hence my baby ConCon :haha: )
Before that I had implanon, it was good, but my nody rejected it :growlmad:
Been on pill, liked it and it suited me, until doctor suggested I have the implanon...
And trying again to get the coil (without hormones) put in Jan 7th  Trued to get it in last week, but my womb was in a dodgy position :haha:

bc pill is how i got molly ha. I'm on the mini pill while i wait for mirena

I'll be getting Mirena! I hear it's really, really good and there's a non-hormonal one! I'll be getting that!

I have the coil, (not the mirena) and my period's are the same as before I had Evie! It lasts 10 years as well :D

I had the Depo Provera shot but it was awful. Put me in terrible moods, very disinterested in sex and just all around made me feel depressed. I've heard that IUD's can cause terrible infections so that puts me off. I'm thinking about looking into the mini-pill :flower:

I have mirena and so far I hate it,I've basically been having a period for 2 months. but I hear that's normal for a bit? BOOOOO MIRENA!

I'm on the Pill, so not much help over here lol. Long term methods scare me x

I have a Mirena in. LOVE IT. The hormones are more localized, so rather than affecting your whole body.. it really just affects that general area, I haven't had a period in one year.. I haven't had cramps since I got it put in (minus the first couple weeks with it in)... I personally haven't had any random bleeding, not even when it was first put in.. so I'm very happy with it. My first period with it in was normal, then they eventually got shorter and lighter until one month they just stopped. Lasts up to 5 years, and I'd get another one without a second thought. It is kind of expensive up front- $350 I think? But cheaper in the long run than paying for BCP every month.
