Hey, I know this fits better in the health and wellness forum but there isn't as much activity there so wanted to check here.

I have been on the birth control patch for about a year, but I noticed this on the pill pre-pregnancy as well. Around day 20-22 of my cycle (when I normally would ovulate off of BC) I get some brownish discharge, usually only lasting a day or two but up to 4 days sometimes.

Does this just sound like breakthrough bleeding or something more? Just so odd that it lines up with when I would ovulate if I weren't on birth control.

Haha well I'm not much help because when I had that (on the pill - spotting at ov time) I got pregnant with DD... I'd call your OBgyn and see what they recommend. Maybe you need to switch hormones

Yeah I'm wondering if it's not strong enough or something. We will be TTC in the next six months or so, so I might just wait until after that pregnancy.

Hiya .. I am on the patch. Have been on it for 10 months now. The only time iv experienced spotting is if I try to skip too many periods. I usually wear my patch for 6 weeks before having a break. The fact you are spotting probably means it's not strong enough for you body anymore. This is particularly true if you lose or gain weight. Go back to your doctors and they may change your method. My docotor said when I was ready to have a baby, to come off the patch and use condoms for at least 3 months so you cycles settle down. That way it is easier to predict the due date etc. Xxx

Thanks!! Yeah I'll probably be going off in a month or two anyways to prepare for TTC like you suggested, but I think I'll go on the pill aftert next kid. I wonder if my loosing baby weight affected this (I also weigh a bit less than pre-pregnancy now).

Just wanted to add in case other ladies ever search this and wonder, or if you ladies are wondering. I was having the same problem about 6 months post after starting the patch. I've been on it for almost a year now. I consulted with my pharmacist and she said that it may be that the patch (hormones in the patch) are not strong enough for you! Just like what you said. Gl xx
