How long after having a baby can you start birth control?

I started the mini pill six weeks postpartum exactly. Conveniently (or not - seeing as I'm bf!) my af started that day so made it easier.

I think it depends on what your using. When I had my son I went on the depo shot and they gave it to me right after I had him. With my daughter I went on mirena and had to wait until 6 weeks PP. Dh got a vasectomy two weeks ago, so until he tests zero, we will be using condoms.

Immediately. I have ParaGard but didn't get it until she was about 2 months old.

I think any time unless its the IUD, then they usually like to wait until you are at least 6 weeks PP. However, if you are BFing that will effect what type of bcm you should go with bc many of the methods decrease milk supply.
