how much does birth actually hurt?....i mean.....it cant be so bad if women go back to do it time after time...can it?? eeek..
I am discussing my particular case with a specialist next week as I have a condition which means my skin is extra sensative and cuts easily...bit worried..and starting to consider my options...

I won't lie - it hurts like hell. Personally, nothing I'd read or heard from others prepared me for how painful it was. At one stage I think I actually passed out from the pain (was in labor for 18 hours).

BUT.....you know you're doing it for a reason so that keeps you going through it, and once it's all over, you soon forget how hard it was. I think the ability to 'forget' the pain is natures way of ensuring we go back for more! I had a very tough time on my DD's birth, but here I am a year later and 6 weeks pregnant again

Lots of women don't find it so unbearable though, you won't know until it happens. And there's always pain relief available if you need it.... so don't worry :hugs:

Hehehehe! I can lie if you want.. or just say the truth. I would rather have a rusty nail shoved in my eye and swirled around for hours on end.. BUT then again I never did that so.. hehehe
It is very painful and undescribable BUT oh sooo soooo worth it!

:saywhat: awwww I'm scared as it is but I hope it'll be bearable

I dont' want to use any drugs...this pain stuff is starting to worry me though

Personally, I found the pain horrific, (sorry I wont lie) and I didnt even have a vaginal birth (well i was fully dilated and pushing) so then I had the hassle of a section too!
Nothing can prepare you for that, but you deal with it, and get on with it.

I again wont lie it hurts lol, but like eveyone says its worth it, the pain i cant really describe to be honest but some peoples pain barriers are different.
But then it cant be all that bad cos we do it again and again and again, i said after my Son was born never ever again, but here i am doin it again!!!
XXX

OMG why thinking about this noww just at the beginning!
enjoy ur pregnancy and dont stress about this. I bet we are all going to start thinking about it when we enter the third tri!

i found all mine to be the most painful yet most amazing exeriences of my life

x

why worry now? Well I'm not worrying, more like preparing myelf! I reckon if I consider it for 9 months then I'll be ready to get in there and do it no worries!!!!....(who am I kidding?heheheh)
And I'm just considering my options!:headspin:

oooh man !! Im so looking forward to giving birth and seeing my little baby, but im soooooooooooo scared of the pain.. Im not mad about having an epidural either. The doc told me not to rule it out though, which I won't..

Its scary thinking I have to actually get this baby out one day.. And its gotta come out my mini moo, nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

It doesnt hurt a bit........:rofl:lol now my honest answer imagine a watermelon up your backside now picture yourself shitting it out....My son was 8lb 12 oz & I am a uk size 6.....but you forget the pain as soon as your baby is placed in you arms....I would give birth anyday rather than go through the 1st 12 weeks I find this the hardest....But all I can say is everyone is different...good luck to all :happydance:

Everyone has a different experience, but im not one to sugar coat things, it bloody hurts!! I was in (active?) labour for 14 hours - bad contractions, show etc, but had back pain for 2-3 days before, it obviously varies from person to person though so don't worry. ;)

It is a scary time, but also the most exciting day of your life as you know you're going to see your little one soon. When you hold them, the pain goes away and you don't have much time to think about how you're feeling. The painful memories go away, as you just think of it as the day your little miracle was born, it can't be that bad as many many women go on to have more children!! I hated the pain, but I want another one so try not to worry yourself too much!

Hope that helps you a bit :)

I have 3 boys and each labour was different.

I had natural births with all three, but only had gas and air with our oldest who was 6lb 6oz and I was in labour for 3hrs and 31 mins. I was in absolute agony with the pain but as soon as they handed me my son for the first time the pain was just a distant memory and was worth every minute.

With our second I was only in labour 20 mins, 6lb 8oz, no pain relief and was paralised from waist down at every contraction but was fine in between so I never felt any pain.

With our youngest son it was completly different though. I went into premature labour at 29 weeks and was having contractions on and off for 3 days and the pain was bad luckly they managed to stop the labour and I had him at 39 weeks weighing 6lb 14oz (although he was small and premature baby clothes didnt fit him) with no pain relief, in labour for 3hrs 53 mins, but again the pain was that bad I was screaming for an epidural (sp?) but because I had stated when I went in I didnt wanted any pain relief they wouldn't give me any.

Every person had a different pain level and every birth is completely different. It is scary especially with the first and not being through it before but when they hand you your baby for the first time the pain you experienced was well worth it.

:hugs:

Some women say it hurts, some women say it wasen't so bad (must have a high tolerance for pain lol). As for me, my labor was absolutely terrible, after being in labor for 21 hours (18 without meds) and then pushing for 2 hours I ended up needing the forceps AND the vaccum, I rather be in active labor for days rather than feel those things anywhere near me again because my god it was the worst pain I've ever felt. Anyone remember the relief after the baby comes out? almost like an orgasm . Thankfully though, you completely forget the pain , you remember it hurts but not enough to not want to do it again. As soon as you see that little baby in your arms its all completely worth it. As long as there's someone there to support you, you'll do just fine :hugs:

Either way I just can't wait to see my lil pumpkin. The pain won't last long and it'll all be worth it.

I wish I´d not read any of these posts now!!

Quite a few of my friends have had children and whenever I ask them they all smirk and skirt around actually admitting how much pain they were in - hey ho, at least I´ve got a while yet to prepare myself! I´ve got a low pain threshold:help:
