birth....honestly, it hurts how much??

OMG GOD!!! I have a bad back - christ why did I read this thread!! LOLLOL

That watermelon imagery had my dropping my laptop and screaming for DH!!!!:wacko::hissy:

Sorry SB  Can I just add that I had 1 shot of pethidine (heavenly stuff) with my 1st baby & just gas & air with my 2nd..I have no pain threshhold whatsoever I cry getting my eyebrows waxed ..:happydance:

Girls I cannot empaphise how important and how helpful the breathing is in labour.

Pain wise contractions-Pah! They are ok,I hated pushing now that is like being sick and not being able to stop, that sensation. Gross hate having no control BUT breathing helps if you want to push and aren't ready.

Have an epi I did with second but could still feel bearing down but no pain so great......

Be fine dont worry about it

Tinytoes and any other first time mommies... don't get too wrapped up in this. EVERYONE goes through it and as your pregnancy progresses you will probably get more and more worried. Just let it flow.. try not to think about it too much.. because in all honesty.. there is not a thing you can do about it!
I think there is no preparing for childbirth other than just excepting it is going to hurt like hell, unless you are one of the lucky few. Obviously you can take classes to help cope with the pain, which works for some and not for others. Every one of us ladies on here will be going through it. So lets just be glad we get the opportunity to do it. When your little one comes out and you get to hold it for the first time and feel it's little warm body, all gooey and snuggled up against you.. ALL the pain is gone and SO worth it. Guaranteed!!!!!
And I must add I have yet to meet a woman that said it didn't hurt without pain meds.

with my 1st i had an unsucessfull epi, i was in labour for about 3 days an in loads of pain!!! she was 7lb 14.....

with my 2nd, i was at home untill 4pm and had him at 4:55pm!!! i had gas and air but was just holding it!!! it hurt like hell but was bearable, he was 10lb 1 lol!!!

This stuff doesn't bother me. Im pretty good with pain. Although I know itll probably take me by suprise, but at the end of the day you're doing something really good and there can be a hell of a lot worse that can happen.

Im more worried about being a mum... Ive got no clue how to even hold a baby! haha

as soon as you hold your baby the pain is forgotten!!! :D

I also have to say that it hurts - however, it's not like the kind of pain that you get when you break your leg or anything. It's a deep, purposeful pain that originates from deep within. When I was in labour my OH was putting counter pressure on my back and the only time I said 'ow' was when he caught my skin - it was a totally different kind of pain.

I was thinking that it's not fair that mommy has to go thru all the pain all by herself. I think we should take up couvade like the Huichol Indians. The daddy would sit in the rafters above mommy, and two ropes would be tied to his jewels. Everytime mommy felt a contraction she could yank away!

I had pre eclampsia with my dd (now 11) and was induced a month early with pitocin.

That is rough stuff lemme tell you... whew.

Had an epidural - the only way to go if you're already half out of it. I had a small 4" window of feeling on my abdomen that I could feel the contraction, but I had no feelings to bear down.

Thankfully my 20 year old, toned tummy muscles pushed her out in three pushes on the command of the nurses and my mom who was there with me.

I'm kinda looking forward to doing it this time via nature and working with my body through the process. I'd have some pain meds to take the edge off, but I don't think I want an epidural this time... made me feel goofy, and having to wait forever before getting up, and having the urine catheter... bah...

Not to mention when the anesthetist was inserting that catheter into my spine, and I was shaking from the pre eclampsia labor tremors he said "oops".

:dohh:

Kinda looking forward to it myself, but then I guess I'm a little odd ;) I just want my bebe at the end!

lmao that picture is classic, they had the right idea.

Must remember that for next time..

Yes, I wont lie either, I also passed out with the pain.

I have never known anything like it in my whole life. I think we are all suckers for punishment though, to keep going back through it time and time again.

I think you will find all the pain is worth it when you hold that little baby in your arms.

Dont worry about it until it comes.
Just relax, and enjoy life pain free for now.

Haha bless you :D

Thatll be me though, I can tell. I called my doctor a nasty name the other week when I had an internal examination. It was her own fault though really.

i agree with that pain sensation.. its not like an 'ouch' kind of pain it definitely is a deep deep pain, very very different.

i found it ok and bearable, contractions were fine and i wasnt bothered by them at all and the pushing didnt last very long. its just something you deal with, your body realises its own kind of pain relief (i didnt have gas and air whilst pushing, only when i was dilating)

i cant say im worried about having to go through it all again to be honest!
