Hello ladies

I am currently in the process of working out my birth plan, i know its a little early but I am researching and trying to get to know different types or births

I was wondering if anyone else has done theres yet and what do they say or what will they say?

Any ideas???

Thanks
xxx

i didn't do a birth plan for my first. i had a general idea of how things wanted to go, but my body said otherwise!
i ended up with an epidural which i really didnt want, being 2 weeks over and ended up being induced!!

if it were me, i would just go in with an open mind and have a general idea of things. xx

A birth plan helped me feel I would be in control when the time came and know wat to expect, there's a site www.birthplan.com that gives you all the options to consider, I used it to form my own shorter plan. Definateky prepare for the unexpected tho when time comes! x

I didn't even think of a birth plan with my first, but even if I had written down my plan it wouldn't have worked that way - I planned on an epidural, but was already at 7cm and dilating fast when I got to the hospital!

I meant to do one with my second, but some very hectic things came up and I was unable to. So I plan on doing one this time - I plan on putting down that I prefer to be unmedicated, to be mobile, to have access to the birthing tub and shower, a birthing ball, and to have the lights low and sounds as minimal as possible. Also putting in that DH does NOT want to cut the cord, but that we do want delayed cord clamping and cutting, and that I want immediate skin to skin.

That's the gist - I've played with a couple different templates from books/internet and haven't found exactly what I want yet, but I figure if its clear in my head and in DH's head, we'll find a way to make it happen, or as the PPs have said - we'll roll with the punches as different scenarios come up :)

I had a plan...then everything went insane. Make a plan if you want, but be prepared to not use it. :hugs:

I agree about keeping an open mind. I didn't have an official birth plan but any plans I had in my head went out the window on the day! xx

I wanted delayed cord clamping/cutting. to breast feed right after birth. immediate skin to skin. drug free labor.

Well my labor went so fast i got my drug free labor...but that's it. cuz of being a preemie, i got nothing else...and i definitely didn't intend to labor completely in the car...

i was just going to suggest what other ladies have said, its great to have a birth plan and an idea of what you want to happen but be prepared for things to possibly not go as you hoped x

Yup! Just keep an open mind and you'll be fine!

I certainly didn't intend to practically deliver in the car, but just, as we did, roll with the punches and prepare yourself so you're not extremely upset if things go the other way.

Just remember, getting your baby in the end is the only important thing.
