Ok so on Friday 12th April I had some very mild cramping and lower back pain that started in the morning. I lost my mucous plug early in the morning too, so I was getting excited that things might be happening! The cramps were like period pains and got slightly worse throughout the day, but they certainly didn't stop me from doing anything. I walked 4 miles that day, and when they were at their worst I refused to stop walking and laughed through the pain!
In the evening things died down a little, so I had a bath with some Clary Sage oil, bounced on my birthing ball and got DH to get me a Nandos (very classy!)
It got to 6pm and I was exhausted all of a sudden so I went to bed.
11:30pm I was woken up with some serious serious pains... But took some paracetamol and when back to sleep.
12:30am I was woken up with some pretty intense pains. Tried to go back to sleep but at 12:50am my waters broke. I woke up the hubby and asked him to call the hospital, which he did. I ended up speaking to the midwife who said that seen as I had had 3 contractions in the time that I had been speaking to her and I was still able to talk then they couldn't be that bad and not to go in. My hubby insisted that we went for me to be checked, he knows that I have a very very high pain threshold.
So at 1:30am we end up in hospital and I am writhing around in agony, absolute agony. Midwife is really chilled and laid back and doesn't think anything will be happening soon, but she checks me just incase. At 1:45am I was 4cm and she admitted me to the delivery suite.
By the time we got to the delivery suite (2:15am) I was in the worst pain of my life, and I'm getting the urge to push. I was a complete state, I wee'ed on the floor whilst having contractions/pushing, I was a mess. The midwife kept on leaving the room and leaving us on our own, I was having contractions constantly at this stage. When she came back at 2:30am my hubby asked for some gas and air for me. Until then I had only had 2 paracetamol!
She said she wanted to examine me again so I crawled onto the hospital bed... Only for her to say she didn't need to examine me because baby's head was there! I was terrified at this point, the pain and the pressure was so strong...
4 pushes (the first 2 I didn't want to push her out because of the pain, I could feel her stretching me tmi sorry!) and she was out at 2:45am.
A healthy 6lbs6oz little baby girl!!
So basically I ignored the first stages of labour, slept through the first couple of centimetres of dilation and got to 10cm with nothing but 2 paracetamol!! I did ask for the birthing pool and they started to fill it... But baby arrived before it was even 1/8 full!!
It was an awesome, gruesome, painful experience that I'll never forget... And it won't put me off having another!![Smile :) :)](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
