So i was 41+1 and in my opinion there was no sign of baby arriving, i had turned down a sweep (just hate the idea and didnt have one with dd who was a svd) and was told to go to hospital on the saturday at 4pm on 26th october. i almost refused it as i really didnt want to be induced as all i heard about inductions was they are more painful, last for days and more likely to need forceps etc. but after talking it over with dh we decided to go ahead as i dont have great pregnancies and maybe enough was enough. so i went in and the mw told me tht because max wasnt engaged it had to be a dr who examines me. so waited about 45 mins then the dr arrived, meanwhile i had been attached to the monitor which had been reading i was having regular contractions. i had assumed some were tightenings and some wer baby stretching as none were painful however on examination turns out i was 3cm! so they could take me right down to delivery and break my waters.
breaking my waters wasnt great, i had to use gas and air during, but i think it was more because of the dr tbh, she was very rough and didnt have a great bedside manner. so when she broke my water i flooded the place lol and almost instantly the contractions came hard and fast. i had actually forgotten how painful labour can be, contractions were every minute and i laboured for 3 hours. mw basically hung back and let me do what my body was telling me to (which is what i requested) and after literally ten mins of pushing max was born at 23.30 weighing 10lbs 1oz.
i had a few grazes but jus one stitch, and hes wonderful so in love.![Smile :) :)](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
just want to say, overdue ladies dont worry so much about inductions because as ive proved to myself it doesnt always mean a bad labour, mine, although very painful was great. if its right for you go ahead as you might find you may already be in labour like i was.
lots of love
