I finally got induced at 8am Saturday the 20th July. My waters got broken at 8.30am, then I got told to walk around for an hour to see if my contractions would get stronger on their own. They got stronger and more regular however the doctors decided to start to induction drip to make things move faster.
That really got my contractions going! I went 4 hours with no pain relief, but then gave into trying the gas, that just made me feel sick and felt like I was in more pain. I tried another 20 minutes without anything, but couldn't do it so I got an epidural.
all I can say about an epidural is MAGIC!
my pain went within 15 minutes and all i felt was the pressure, so I had a sleep.
I woke up at 7.30pm, and my midwife checked my cervix, and BAM fully dilated!
I was so happy, I couldn't stop smiling.
By this time my epidural was wearing off (after having two top ups during my sleeping period). I asked for another top up but couldn't have one as I needed to start pushing.
I pushed for 1hr 15mins but then Koby's heart rate shot up, and he got stuck!
Suddenly I see 7 doctors rush into the room, throwing in their gloves and getting the ventouse (the suction cap to help him out). the main doctor then cut me to make more room, attached the ventouse and started pulling as I was pushing. Finally his head came out!
Then his shoulder got stuck, so the doctor had to put both hands inside me and try pull his shoulders, while she was doing this two doctors were holding my knees against my shoulders! and the rest of the and my midwife were pushing down on my stomach trying to move him as well! If this had failed I would have had a c-section. WORST PAIN IN MY LIFE!
At 9.56pm Koby Thorn Phillips was born 9pound 11.
Because he was stressed he needed to get hooked up to the oxygen straight away.
I lost 2.2L of blood, so I can't remember anything after he came out, I don't even remember seeing him. The doctors then had to rush to an emergency c-section, and Kim (my midwife) tended to Koby. He was now breathing and fine, she was just taking his obs.
My sister then pointed out to her that I wasn't moving or breathing, so Kim told my mum to watch Koby and she rushed to put the bed flat and get my back up. She got my breathing again with oxygen and kept me on monitor to make sure I didn't go into a coma.
The next day I woke up in the maternity suite and had Koby cuddled next to me in bed. I burst into tears, he was so perfect.
I took my all day to be able to sit up straight without getting dizzy but I wanted to get home asap so I kept trying, and by the next day I could walk with a lot of pain (from my stitches swelling). I got discharged on Monday and been loving every second of motherhood.
