On Tuesday, May 8, I went to my ob appointment for a scheduled NST, much to my surprise I was having mild contractions every 5 minutes. The ob came in and you could tell that something didn't settle well with her and she said that every time I have a contraction the baby's heartbeat wasn't going up and down like it should instead it was staying the same, which was ok, but she didn't feel comfortable sending me home for two more days until my scheduled c-section so she decided to go ahead and send me to l&d to start my prep for my c-section. I had an anterior placenta, high amniotic fluid, low blood platelets, and marginal cord placenta so all of the risk were given to me and we were on our way! After sitting in the recovery room getting prepped and poked for 4 hours they came in and wheeled me down the hallway. I do have to say I was freaking out, I have never had a spinal before and even though they said it wouldn't hurt, I was still shaking. I got on the bed and the doctor held my shoulders and tried to take my mind off of what was going on, it didn't hurt, but it was definitely uncomfortable. Once all the medicine was in I was laid back, taped up, monitors were put on, covered, and then my husband came in and held my hand. It seemed like it took forever for them to get Blake out, which is kind of did since the ob said I had tons of scar tissue. At 5:57 pm my beautiful baby boy was taken out, they actually had my husband stand up and watch, which he thought was amazing! They showed him to me over the cover and I started to cry. It was the most amazing feeling I have ever felt and all of the uneasiness and fear of being awake during a surgery went away. He weighed 7 lb 10 oz and is 18 1/2 in. long. We were only in the hospital for 1 1/2 days and he is doing amazing at home. He sleeps all the time and eats perfectly. I'm feeling better than I ever thought I would and can't believe that I'm a mother of two amazing children. My c-section experience was great, the nurses and the ob did everything in their power to make sure I was comfortable and really reassured me when I told them that I was terrified of getting the spinal. They were all so supportive and I was so happy with everything.
