Hi Ladies - I'm not a regular poster here, although I do check this section almost everyday and find it so helpful to hear the great advice and others TTC stories.

I just wondered if anyone could answer a few questions. I have a few things running through my mind and can wait until Monday to contact the hospital for more information!

I've been referred to the fertility specialist at my local hospital and I have received a letter today asking for the following -

1) CD2 blood test
2) CD19 blood test and
3) A swab to check for Chlamydia

I'm just wondering why they have asked for CD19 blood test rather than the usual CD21? They have crossed out CD21 on the specimen bag and written CD19 instead.

Does the CD2 and CD19 blood test need to be carried out on the same cycle - I'm going to be in another country on my next CD19 and then the following CD2 so wondered if I could do CD2 this cycle and CD19 next cycle?

Also 5 years ago I had a Lap done, they found I had a tilted womb - before the Lap I was tested for Chlamydia - the test for this came back clear. I've been with my DH for 8 years and there is no way in the world that either of us would have caught Chlamydia since my last test so do you think I actually need to have this done?

Sorry for asking so many questions - I should probably wait until Monday so I can phone the fertility nurse but I feel anxious about this and I can't sleep - I'm such a worry wort!!

Thank you x

Just seen post by Magicvw on 25th August 'Question about 21CD bloods' this post has answered one of my questions - should have read more posts before I posted!

I believe testing for Chlamydia is standard, on our first appointment the RE asked for more than just that, we had to have proof of no other STD, no rubeola, no hepatitis, etc.

From what I know yes, they can be done on different cycles as they do not measure that specific cycle but some of your values.

I have no clue for why on CD19, maybe it's a technical issue but you should not worry, they have guide values for it being performed at any point in the LP.

Good luck and let us know how the appointment went.

i just got recomended to do blood test as well on CD3 and one after 7 days past ovulation but in the CD3 she ask to be test for rubella for me as for me as well have no idea why ?

but for financial money (usa care:() i was wondering to if it was important to them in the same cycle ? good question miss monty !:)

I had CD21 bloods done approx 12 months ago before my GP referred me to the fertility specialist. After I had all the investigations done, I had CD3 bloods done in May before I was placed on the NHS IVF waiting list. The chlamydia swab is standard practice, and the rubella check is to make sure that, if fertility specialists are going to force pregnancy, you are rubella immune. If you are not rubella immune, then a rubella injection is needed and ttc has to be put on hold for 3 months or so. You will also find that when it gets close to having treatment - assuming that is what is needed - you will also be tested for HIV, Hep B, and Hep C.

Hope that helps.

xx

Funnily enough I had full checks for HIV, HPV, syphillis, Hepatitis (all of them), chlamydia, gonorrea etc TWICE !!! and that was way before I even had my first gyno consult in March (unfortunately there are massive waiting lists here for this type of thing) but I think that was primarily because I was bleeding "down there" (worked out to be PCOS)...and the blood tests..... have had CD3 tests done three times now !! and CD21 twice (in total 9 sets of blood tests) and also before my last laparoscopy in June. They sound at least like they are being thorough :) which is NOT a bad thing !

Best of luck... Its hard not to worry though when its something so so important to you !!

Thanks everyone - yeah they are going to test for rubella on my CD2 blood test. I'm going to phone the fertility nurse tomorrow to double check about doing blood tests on different cycles and I'll let you all know.

I'm a little bit gutted - Af is due anytime now (although not 100% sure when as I did not use CBFM this month so don't know when I ovulated) I'm going on holiday on 19th September for 2 weeks which I am so looking forward to - but it means I'll be on holiday for CD19 this cycle and CD2 next cycle so I'll have to wait a little while longer for my first ferlitiy appointment as they want all 3 tests done first.

I think its best if I get the chlamydia test done then at least they can double check.

We're getting DH sperm test results back in a week - so at least we'll know the results of that before we go away.

Thanks again x

Hi - just an update incase anyone finds this information useful.

I spoke with the fertility nurse this morning - she told me that the blood tests can be done on different cycles and that if you recieve the request close to CD19 you can have this done first and then CD2 the following cycle.

Feel much better now for knowing this although due to going on holiday I'm going to have to wait another whole month before having CD19 blood test done - at least I'll be on holiday so by the time I get back I will not have too long to wait x

Keep us posted with the SA results!

Good luck, hope it all goes well for you
