My baby doesn't bring food to his mouth so doesn't eat a thing! He also hates being spoonfed. Not sure what to do really. Hmm. My first son took to it all very easily so feeling a little bummed. Any words of wisdom?

He is only just 6 months so its really not a problem at this stage. Some babies arent ready to eat at 6 months and either way food before one is just for fun. Keep putting food in front of him when you sit down to eat yourself or when you feed your eldest and he will watch you eating and copy you when he is ready to. If he still wont entertain food at 8/9 months then i would be starting to worry but right now its okay for him not to want solids as long as he is having plenty of milk.

Ok thanks! I just hope he starts doing something soon. I keep forgetting to offer him food now because I know he won't even eat it anyway.

Does he bring other objects to his mouth? He's probably just not ready or interested in solids yet. I'd give it a little break and try again in a week or two.

My middle son wasn't remotely interested in food even by seven months, it took him ages to start eating. My second youngest took really well to BLW though he did prefer bread, pasta etc and ate loads at first but then started eating less, albeit more of a good variety. It took until he was 15 months to really start eating properly again. Now at the age of three, we joke he is going to be a raw foodist, he loves salad, nuts, raw oats, raw veg and fruit. He will eat a variety of cooked foods as well xx

Does he bring random objects to his mouth? Does he touch food & hold it? I tried BLW but it didnt work asDS didnt put random objects in his mouth & he hated the feeling of food on his hands, so we quit after a mouth & we started to spoon feed him from what we're eating, he's 4 but he's still selective with food he will eat with his hands, he doesnt like the mess.

I'd give it some time if he's drinking enough milk, mine wasnt drinking the recommended amount of milk for his age (he was drinking 15 oz only).

I'd say just give it time. And also try not to hover over him. I found that sometimes if I just sat and stared at her, my daughter wouldn't eat. If I pretended to busy myself around the kitchen, she'd not be so distracted and dig in.

Even now I've come to accept that food I make for our baby is probably going to end up on the floor. I'm not really happy about it, but I've accepted it... Our baby does eat- chews and swallows- then loses interest. Also, we're in a "dropping" stage. Really into just dropping things. :| Not my favorite phase so far.

It can take kids a long time to get into food. It's your call if you want to lay off for awhile or continue. Make sure to keep him around while you're eating and probably try to have at least one baby friendly thing on your plate. If he shows interest, you'll be able to give him something.

If you aren't feeding your baby while you eat- that's a good idea. It may prompt him to eat because he wants to do what the adults are doing. It also shows him what he's supposed to do with the food. After about 2 months of BLW, our baby still really likes watching us eat while eating.

Since posting this he's started tasting tiny amounts of things! Yay! He doesn't eat much but seems to be making slow progress. My eldest loved food so much, they're all so different!

My little boy won't put food in his mouth still ! But he does not really out anything in his mouth. we spoon feed him which he likes he has his mouth open waiting for next spoonful. I'm not worried because let's face it how many healthy adults do you see still being spoon fed ! Like everything it will come with time.
