My lo is 2 and a half weeks old. My boobs seem to leak constantly!! Never realised I'd get through so many breast pads! Worse when I feed, the other one seems to explode and normally have to use 2 pads, and often still need to change my bra from where its got wet. Does this ease off, or is this how it's going to be the whole time I feed? I'm fed up of wearing a bra all day, AND all night!! x

simultaneous let down is not unusual and should get more controlled as your breasts get better at it. I had one that didn't get better so I just feed off that one first!! Even now at 20 months. When DS was that little though I changed my breast pads every feed. It does get better.

Oi. I remember those days. My other boob would leak too while I was feeding my son. Luckily, I could feel it coming and if I put some pressure on it (just press it firmly and gently straight back into my chest with my palm and hold it for a little while), then the leaking wouldn't be as bad. I remember trying to go braless for a little while and just leaking everywhere! It's no fun, but you'll get the hang of this whole breastfeeding thing and your body will adjust. Hang in there!

It settles down!! The first few weeks I was just soaking through my clothes the whole time, it was so uncomfy! I can't even remember how long it lasted but honestly it wasn't that long, maybe 5 weeks or something? And then it starts to settle down a lot. I think I wore breast pads for about 2 months but around the house I just went topless so that I didn't get sore boobs from being covered up. Congratulations on the birth of your rainbow baby. xx

Thank you! It's good to hear it settles down, was worried I was going to be told to expect this for as long as I'm breastfeeding! A few more weeks I can deal with! We came home from hospital at 5 days and I didn't have any feeding bras or anything. I had a nursing nightie and wore that, and within an hour of being asleep it was drenched! There's no where to put breast pads!! Much easier after investing in some sleep bras! I'll just keep taking spare clothes with me when I go out for now!!

Thank you mrspear, it's so lovely having her home x

For that letdown whilst feeding i bought some medela shells. They collect milk which you can either freeze or chuck away but at least you wont have to change your bra! i think they cost about £6 on amazon.
