My little boy is almost 4 months old, and has been combi fed since birth and has always been an awesome eater. He has always taken a bottle like a champ. The past few days he has gone on an eating strike I guess. When I lay him down to breastfeed, he cries and fusses and wont latch for longer than a minute. And when I try to give him the bottle he cries and turns his head and fusses a bunch. Sometimes it turns into a full fledged hissy fit. I know he's hungry cause he's practically gagging himself sucking on his hands and crying for food, but not taking it. He's still peeing regularly, and eventually I will get enough formula down him, but I was wondering...does anyone know what could be causing this?

I can't answer why he does it, but I can say that DD went through exactly the same thing at about 3 months old (and still does it to a certain extent). She was pretty much exclusively breastfed (had one bottle every 2 or 3 days) and just suddenly started refusing the boob, to the point where she just screamed and screamed every time I put her anywhere near me. She did the same with a bottle but to a smaller extent, and I think with a bottle it's easier to try and "force" her to take it so at least I was able to get some milk into her.

I just had to wait it out really, and it definitely has improved but she still is funny about feeding. I don't know why she does it, but just wanted to let you know that you aren't alone and that for me things just got better on their own xxx
