Bottle feeding in hospital

My hospital did and still give out formula when your in ... whatever brand you like in little glass bottles

I must remember to find out from my midwife at some stage whether my hospital offers formula or not just in case BFing doesn't happen for whatever reason xx

thanks for all the answers ladies :D it is good to no what other's do. obviously its best to speak to your hospital to see what there policy it.

just to add, i too don't agree with it, but i believe it was to promote bf-ing, that is the official line, anywho, back too the thread about what to do!

thanks to fossey about the fast flowing teats, that wouldn't have occurred to me :dohh: i would rather use the glass bottles then come home and go to MAM's and aptamil.

It's certainly interesting to see what we are to do, if you do choose to ff or can't bf and your hospital don't give out milk. at least we can be prepared :D

When I was in 4 weeks ago they didnt have Aptimil at my hospital so just had to switch to Aptiamil and Mam bottles when we got home.He didnt seem any the wiser. My hospital were fine with the whole bottle feeding thing and it was actually nice not to feel pressured in anyway.I have heard that some hospitals have vending machines in place so you have to buy your milk!!.x

How stupid stopping giving out formula!! Bub's gotta eat!!!

In the hosp i was they had glass bottles but u had to speak to a midwife to get one, you couldnt just help yourself...

I have no idea what they do at my hospital because I never once gave Tigs a bottle in the maternity ward.. She had her first feed at 1 day old (my OH gave her it) in the childrens hospital while I was still laid up after my c section. I know its entirely different because a childrens hospital and maternity wards are so different but our childrens has a milk kitchen.. You tell them what you want and they make you x amount of bottles and put them in the fridge. The day Tigs was discharged they gave us the next 24 hours worth of feeds for her.

At the birth centre I gave birth in they had no formula and no bottles. I guess to promote breastfeeding. All very well but no so when at 2am Ruby still won't latch on and is screaming. OH was told to get a taxi to a 24 hour asda!!!!!
