Ladies, if you were to make the decision about getting a sterilisor for the bottles again, would you or would you think now afterwards that it is an unnecessary item?
A close friend of mine said it is totally unneeded and much better and even easier to boil the bottles for sterilisation.
The same friend said that a bottleheater is a good buy though.
I dont know what to think so now searching for other ladies' opinions.
Thankful for advice.

Seems like we will formulafeed in evenings as she has "decided" to refuse breastfeeding in evenings. She really doesnt take the breast in evenings but when she gets the bottle she drinks it.

I've got a microwave steraliser & I'd buy it over again  I don't have the most powerful microwave, but even with that it only takes 8 minutes to steralise 4 bottles  I wouldn't get an electric one as I'd not like any more clutter on my kitchen surfaces!

Like you we're combination feeding so 4 spaces works OK for us.

I haven't got a bottle warmer, but to be honest I've not felt the need for one... But I only ever heat Gabrellla's bottles to room temperature anyway...

We had a phillips avent steam steriliser (just the basic one), which to be honest i found was not that great, you have to descale it very regularly, bottles were only sterile for few hours and the cycle took way longer than it was supposed to! It eventually broke when LO was 9 months and i bought a cold water steriliser from boots and i am converted!!! I found it soooo easy, bottles always ready no need to rinse if you use milton tablets, you can put dummies in as well! I will defo do this from the off next time. We had a microwave one at my mums and that was also convienient, i just do not rate the electric one we had! xxx

We use a steam steriliser. I tried cold sterilizing when we went on vacation but didnt like it as it needs lots of water & LO got allergic reaction to the chemicals around his mouth. I also tried to boil when we were on vacation, but again u need a big pot to sterilize only 3 bottles & lots of water. With our steam steriliser it only takes 15 mins to finish a cycle & only 100 mls of water. We dont have fresh water here, & we have to buy it, so wasting alot for sterilizing is not very convenient.

I have got a tommee tippee microwave or cold water sterilizer and intend to use it with cold water as did this with my first. You say if you use milton tablets you dont have to rinse...does the same apply with milton liquid??

Its been that long since that i cannot for the life in me remember lol..

Thank you

we have 3 hehe we have a tommi tippee steam sterrilizer a microwave one and we have a travel micrwave one aswell. i think there gr8 and wouldnt live without mine. i use my microwave one when im cleaning my main one and then i use my travel one when were away or just for dummies in the house.

i would atleast recomend getting a micrwave one just to avoid mouth thrush. there not expencive the microwave ones.

id be lost with out my sterlizer to be honest but if i could chose i would of bought a mircowave one

bottle warmers are ok if you use them i bought one an havent even used it its still sat in the box

i think everyone is diffrent in wht we want xxx

I have an Avent microwave steriliser and it's great. Wasn't very expensive and does 4 Dr Brown's in 6 mins (but does it in 2 mins if you have a better microwave than me). You can boil bottles but I don't as knowing me I'd end up burning myself trying to fish them out again! As for a bottle warmer it depends on your LO and how they like their milk My son will take milk warm or at room temp. If you make your feed up just before your LO has it you also won't need one as the feed will already be warm.

I'd buy it again definitely! It's so much easier than boiling- I just wash the bottles and put them on to sterilise while the baby is asleep, and she usually wakes up before I make them up so I just go back to it when she's quiet again.. With boiling you couldn't just walk away and know it'd be fine if you got caught up with sorting someting out.

I have a steam and cold water but like the cold water because its there when I need it.
Yes, its the same with the milton liqued as well.

I boiled the bottles for the first week, as I hadn't got a sterilizer yet. I found that with boiling, I had to spend a lot of time watching the pot, to see when it boiled and then remembering to stop it a few minutes later. My stove takes forever to heat up, which didn't help. We now have an avent sterilizer, and although it takes a lot longer than it says it will, it's great to know it will turn itself off and I can forget about it. As for the descaling someone mentioned, that depends entirely on your water supply. Thankfully we've got soft water, so no descaling has been needed yet.

We use a cold water steriliser and it's so easy!
