Hello ladies. I had my csection on Tuesday, home from hospital yesterday. Yesterday had awful wind pain but managed to expel lots of that, lol!! Today I've felt a bit windy but haven't been able to pass it. Just been to loo and strained quite a lot to try and get rid of gas and had some diarrhoea!!! I'm now a bit worried cos I remember being constipated with my first. It wasn't urgent at all, I really had to strain,(sorry tmi), anyone else have any experience of this??

Hi
I had a c section last Tuesday and came home on thursday. Took me ages to be able to go to the toilet and i really had to strain. Ive only been twice since the op but I wont lie, the pain was unbearable when i did go :(

It took me six days and it REALLY hurt a lot the first time I went. I was told it is normal to be constipated though, were you given a laxative to drink?

Firstly, congratulations!! I had Joshua on the Monday and didn't go till the Friday night. Was such a painful experience. The pain got that bad I threw up, which made my scar hurt even more!! I wasn't given laxatives, but I'd definetely reccomend them after my experience!! x

I think I was able to use the bathroom about 2 days PP. Make sure you take stool softeners with your pain medicines though or it will be absolute agony! :(

I was given lactulose, which is a stool softener on da 2 and had diarrhoea for about a week, I'm not sure what's normal if you haven't had softeners though?

If you don't have stool softners, your BM's will be rock hard and exxxxxxtremely painful to pass. I have no idea why pain pills do that! :(

I know I am not post partum yet but I do recommend for rock hard stools, Lactulose and ultraproct cream, its a rectal cream so its not the nicest of things to insert but they do work when they are taken as a suppository on top of taking lactulose.

Lactulose worked a treat! Id recomend all ladies ask for some:thumbup:

Lactulose worked for me and actually tastes nice too. The hospital sent me home with a big bottle. When taking Codeine, you need a stool softener, for sure!

i was in hospital 5 days (other complications) and was sent home with lactulose but it didnt do that to me it just gave me runnyer poo, i knew when i needed to go and had time to get there

EEKKK dont strain!

You acn do your self a bit of a mischief, practice the 'poo breathing' you would have been practicing for birth anyway and get some lactulose in you to get things moving.

Are you ladies talking about going for the first time after operation,or just when you're at home. I wasn't allowed to even leave hosp until i went for the first time! Was given softeners before i left, and never had a prob :/

wish me luck ladies, I am home from my C/S and plan on doing the deed (lol) with my bowels tomorrow after taking lactulose and my suppository

For wind pain i drunk peppermint tea - tastes a bit iffy but works a treat to get the wind out and i think it also helped me to go as well.

I had the same experience, after my c-section i had trapped wind and indigestion for weeks! i lost two and a half stone because i just wasnt interested in eating anything, i could only take a bite of a sandwich and i was full up, had it quite a lot! although i cant remember when i had my first bowel movement :S

Thankfully for me, the Diafene suppositories they gave me after the operation worked a treat and gave me epic loose bowel movements for about 3 days. Otherwise the thought of an ordinary bowel movement would have reduced me to a nervous wreck.

If they didnt have that effect, I would have asked the nurses for something to make it easier.

actually I was surprised how easy it was, I finally went this morning after four doses of lactulose and everything was lose. Yes there was the odd pulling sensation the scar itself but it was not nearly as bad as I expected and you will not burst your stitches. I did not do much TMI but at least I did some so future movements will be much easier

Luckily i had no probs, didnt need any stool softners either. Had baby wednesday and went loo on saturday morning and it was nice an easy thank god. Drink plenty water ladies.

I was taking stool softners, but god it hurt still! But I also had an episiotomy and a tear through to my bum so had stitches there too. My c section was a vertical one, so it was friggin hard to get off the loo lol. Ah, no dignity!
