Hi

My baby is 7mns old and off late I have observed his head shape is lil flat at the back. He doesn't have a round head like DS1. Quick google points towards brachycephaly.
His head circumference is also at 60 percentile.

Due to lockdown not able to go to a paed but my HV told that it seems very mild and should correct itself..

Inputs needed pls

So weird I was actually thinking my DS has the same thing , his head shape is very similar to your DSs . Posted about it .

My DSs head is quite flat at the back but the top seems to be a bit more rounder . If I put my head on the top of his head you can see it’s not flat.

If you didn’t post about this I wouldn’t have noticed a thing about the shape of your DSs head . Maybe that’s a good sign for us both !

Maybe it’s a age thing too ? My DS has just tuned 10 months old. We have been moving him positions when he’s asleep but he’s started lying on his side now . I think as they both spend less time on their backs it should improve I really hope so !

Just to add he doesn’t have a hugh head at all ! He looks all in proportion and very healthy looking !

At 8 months old DSs head was 45.3cm which put him just under the 75 centile which he has been following since birth . Has your DS been following a particular curve?

:) What a coincidence.. yeah even mine spends a lot of time on back so we have started putting him on side for naps and his playtime involves lot of sitting up.. my doc said the same that now onwards it should get better but keep an eye on head circumference..
He was 43cm at 5m, and 44.5 at 7months.. so following the curve..

I think it's just mom eyes lol, my DH and my folks all say he is totally fine and proportionate but I probably see way too much than them..

Exactly the same ! DH said he has noticed it getting a bit rounder and if you feel the back of his head it’s flat but then you feel like a little dip going towards the back of his neck !

If he’s following the curve that’s a good sign too.
I think us mums deffo see too much and once we see something we don’t like the look of that’s it! Its so much more annoying because we cannot get reassurance of anyone at the min which makes me think about it even more !

After having two girls and then a boy I thought it might have been a boy thing with their skulls being shaped differently anyway . I spoke to my HV two 2 months ago and she felt his head didn’t find any lumps or bumps . Said it felt completely normal and would round out as he gets older
Xx

Hahaha my girls both had very round heads !

Maybe it’s just a flat spot they both have in the same position. Which probably is not uncommon with their ages!

I’m not googling anything anymore gives me too much anxiety , you end up reading something bad !

DS uses a pillow under his cot sheet anyway due to reflux (GP suggested it) and we have recently bought a cleva momma memory foam pillow . It’s been proven to help with flat head , not sure how comfortable you feel with getting him something like that . Other than that my DS is always on the move unless he’s eating or sleeping !

Came across your thread again

Just wondering if your still worried about your sons head ? x

Ahh that’s fantastic !!

DSs hasn’t rounded out unfortunately. We took him to see a specialist and he’s now wearing a helmet (I have a thread on this ) . We can see improvements already !

Taking him to see the specialist reminded me of your post ! So glad your littles rounded out ! Xx

Just read your posts on the other thread. So glad it got diagnosed early and kudos to u for your gut feeling.. few more months and it will b all shaped up :)
