braxton hicks and mucus plug?? (possible tmi)

Twice today I have gone to the loo and wiped. Ive had some like brownish colour type discharge ... stuff! Little freaked out as to what it is? Its not loads. Is it some of the mucus plug? I swear with my son it was more of a snot colour and a huge clump of it! Also, for the past hour or 2 ive been getting pains low down which im assuming are braxton hicks but arent labour pains/braxton hicks supposed to go across the tummy? havent been preg for 6 years so memory aint that great!

Its turned into a lot of discharge now and has gotten redder... a bit like start or end of period colour. Should I be worrying? And these pains have become very painful but are low down rather than across the belly... any ideas?

It sounds like things are beginning to happen - you need to call your midwife and speak to them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They'll put your mind at rest - not us!
