Just a quick question :)

Since yesterday evening Ive been getting quite strong stomach cramps... like period pain or something like that. I had 2 or 3 last night and I had a couple through the night as well. Not like really painful but enough to wake me up. Ive been at work this morning and had 3 off the trot within about 5 minutes of each other. But then I haven't had one since. They lasted about 20 seconds each and the ones this morning almost had me in tears.

Could these be braxton hicks? My mum said it was very early to start having them

Thanks :)

I have been having the same sort of cramps to start off with it really scared me thought i was in prem labour they still come and go i have give up on thinking anything of them my ob checked my cervix when i went for my 20wk app and it was closed and well up and had no sign of infection so she just told me to keep an eye on it and go to a&e if i was really concerned i am now 21wks and still getting them usually of a night time or after i have been really active

You should contact your midwife just to be safe, I thought I had braxton hicks a few weeks ago they were so painfull coming every 5 mins lasting for half a min or so . but I just thought it has to be braxton hicks when I told my midwife at the next visit she said you should have gone straight to the hospital as it could have been early labour. I havent had any pain like that since but those pains were so painful i remember thinking whats the real thing going to be like

Thanks hun

Ive had another 2 since I posted the last thread. Not really sure what to do. I dont want to have to go to A&E for nothing coz Im really busy at work today and I dont think there would be a lot of understanding if I went.

I was reading somewhere the other day that you actually start having Braxton Hicks from about 6 weeks of pregnancy but you can't feel it till later on. Some people feel it sooner than others. They're not ment to be painful though untill your last few weeks so I agree with the others, that you should probably get it checked out. :hugs:

no they are not meant to be painfull so if i was you i would get it checked out i did and now i know its nothing i feel so relaxed it will put your mind at ease thats what your midwife is there for

I dont really like her, I dont feel like I can ring. I might call NHS direct at lunchtime and see what they say.

Thanks everyone :)

thats a good idea let us know how you go hope everything is ok hun stay positive

I wouldn't worry about work not being understanding Linzi, its more important that you and your baby are ok, i'd go and get checked out, better then to worry x

I know, I just am a bit paranoidd about it at the mo. Im just worried about money and stuff which probably doesn't help. Ive got a deadline to hit by lunchtime so once Ive done that I dont mind going, I just dont want to look still over nothing. If that makes sense. I know in my head everything is fine but its just a bit scary.

Thanks for all your help girls, dont know what Id do without yous :)

linzi ure def not too early to have BH u can get them from 20 weeks on

I rang NHS direct and they said since it was happening quite regular then I was to ring my midwife who happens to be on her lunch at the moment. I left a voicemail so hopefully she'll ring me back.

I just dont want her to tell me to go to hospital, Im terrified of going :(

My midwife rang back and tried to put me through to the labour ward, but I got scared and hung up :( I cant face talking to anyone there coz I know theyre going to ask me to go in and I really dont want to.

Is there nothing else I can do?

hun if they want you to come in go in, ill tell u something my doctor told me and its not to scare you but i think u should hear it, the difference often between giving birth early and preventing it is awareness. go in, theyll check you out and ull feel better knowing you didnt take any risks, u never know they might say u dont even have to come in and that everythings fine but why take the chance?

Hope you are ok hun. Don't get too stressed out. Did you go into the hospital or get checked out? Is everything ok? :hugs:

xx

Hun you should go to the hospital for you and your LO health you might not evan be there long

Honestly if you midwife thinks you should go in, you really should just face your fears and go. Its best for baby.

I've had some quite painful braxton hicks since the 2nd trimester, and my doctor just told me if I have 6 or more in an hour, call her and we'll meet at labor and delivery. Hope things are fine, give us an update. :hugs:

Hey linzi thinking of you and your bub hope you`se are ok hope to hear something soon

We're both fine. I didn't go in (not through choice) but they've disappeared now so Im guessing it was just braxton hicks.

I rang the ward and they asked me to go in, but I couldn't get there. MIL ignored my texts and I don't have a car. So its a bloody good job I didn't need to go.

glad all is well. Maybe you should put aside taxi money for exactly this sort of emergency? (And awkward MILs...though to be fair my mum only checks her phone once every month I think! It's stilla msyerty to her!!)
