braxton hicks

Im 20 weeks pregnant and last night I went to bed with a banging headache, as I went to bed I had sharp "period" pains where the baby kicked like hell when the pain was there, my stomach at the bottom was rock hard and the pains lasted for a min every 2-3 mins and carried on like this for an hour. Was this braxton hicks?

yes indeed they are! Sometimes they will take ur breathe away... just getting ur body prepared for the real thing. is this your first? its my 5th baby and honey...i can do braxton hicks all day before the real contractions come along. Just try to practice your breathing. I went to bed with the worst headache ever last night myself...that was a first!

Yes this is my first baby, 2nd pregnancy but I MC'd at 7 weeks last time. I thought it was went to my pregnancy book and all it said was make syre they arnt BH when u go into hospital. So I just looked at OH and told him I think I just had BH and they hurt abit, he said BH arnt supposwd to hurt so I replies with the famous friends line "no uterus, no opinion"

In all honesty I am not 100% sure... they probably were, but they are not supposed to feel like period pains, just tightenings, but they CAN feel uncomfortable.

I asked MIL a couple weeks ago about BH and she said ignore that the books said there not painful, she had 6 kids and BH hurt with all 6

I think i'm getting them too off and on from time to time, I don't know for sure that's what it is as I never got them with my last pregnancy and everyone describes them differently. But if that's what Im feeling then yes they do hurt a little bit

I'm getting them too and they're v weird feeling- uncomfortable for sure so it could have been yes xx

That does sound like braxton hicks to me. With my 2 previous pregnancies, BH started around 18-19 weeks. My stomach would start to feel tight and go rock hard for about a min. I think sometimes you could feel sharp pains as your ligaments might be affected too.

They hurt? I didnt think braxon hicks were supposed to hurt...for me it just feels uncomfortable and my tummy tightens really hard. I sometimes get back pain when they happen and shortness of breath but never pain when baby kicks...hmmm....must be differnt for all mommys

Yeah it just felt like period pains to me, but on and off. It kinda scared me for a while until baby started kick boxing in there to tell me he/she is ok

my BH's didn't hurt they just felt really weird.
like my whole belly went tight.
it did take my breath away sometimes though.

I'm struggling aswell with whether iv had braxton hicks or not as not quite sure what they feel like, the other night my stomach went really tight n had a weird feeling that haven't felt before,wasnt in pain but it was a sort of pain (if you know what i mean) n lost my breathe a bit n went quite hot x
