Just wondered if this is ok as my LO refuses morning bottle till almost nap time but will take his solids not long after he as woken up.

Today iv just gone with the flow and if he finishes his bedtime bottle his daily intake would be 26 oz and 2 solid meals. Normally he has 33 oz so he has almost dropped a whole bottle, I'm a bit concerned that he shouldn't drop any milk yet. Any advice? Is it to soon for his milk intake to drop?

(I should add that HV advised weaning as he was 22lb at 5 months)

Xx

I give my lo breakfast before her bottle otherwise she won't eat it. She has half the bottle with breakfast and the other half a little later.

I *think* babies are supposed to have between 28-30oz a day BEFORE they start weaning (my lo always had 35oz a day before weaning) so I would think 26oz plus two meals should still be plenty of milk (in my opinion and I am certainly no expert!)

I weaned a little early and was on the phone almost every day to HV's asking whether lo had taken enough milk - I was told to add up the amount she had every day for a week and then divide it by 7 to get a daily average. As long as it was about 28oz per day she'd be just fine (lo was 5 and a half months).

Thank you so much for your reply. well this morning he refused breakfast until he had some bottle lol, its so confusing. when you think you have one things down and sorted they throw you off track again. I am going to try half bottle then beakfast then other half bottle as he always likes a break in the middle of his bottle anyway.

thank you once again for your reply

xx

ive always thought theyre meant to have bottle on waking as they need milk more than food, then give breakfast an hour later.
my LO wakes up at 6 so he has a big bottle then, then we go back to sleep till 9 when he has breakfast.
im more concerned with him having his milk as its more nutritious/calorific otherwise he'll fill up on breakfast and not take his milk and im like you and quite concerned about his milk intake/dropping bottles

iv read thats how its sposed to be done too but my LO wil point blank refuse a bottle upon wakening! he will not take his full feed until he has been up for at least an hour which makes it hard to fit it all in with naps (esp on the days im working!) xx
