My son is still breast feeding and I have not had a problem with him nursing off me, then going to daycare for eight hours and him drinking my milk from a bottle. All of the sudden this week, he is refusing the bottle at daycare and just wants the boob. In order for him to take the bottle today, I nursed him for a few seconds then put the bottle in his mouth real quick. At first, he didn't want it, but was so hungry he took it anyways. We got off schedule for a few days so I'm not sure if that is what caused this reaction, but even being out of schedule he still got bottles (just not the routine he had at daycare). My daycare lady is up in arms of what to do since he won't eat. Does anyone have any suggestions? By the way, he doesn't take pacifiers. I feed him at 5:00 am, drop him off at daycare at 7:40 am and he usually eats at bottle around 8:00 am then I go and feed (nurse) him at noon and then he eats another bottle around 3:00 then I pick him up at 5:00pm. Yesterday, the only time he ate was at noon, same goes for today so far (besides when I nursed him this morning at 5:00 am).
Can anyone offer any suggestions on what I should do? I want to keep nursing for the bonding, but I also want him to take the bottle at daycare. I'm open to any advice. Thank you.
