Just wondered if anyone else here had used a breast feeding counsellor or know one, or trained as one?

I'm a member of the NCT, and have just seen an ad for bf counsellor training. I've been looking for something new to focus my time on, have always wanted to do some sort of counselling training (i am the official counsellor amongst my friends!) and am such a fan of breast feeding now.

I'm just wondering if i should give it a go. Training takes a few years, but i'm just thinking, if it's been a worthwhile help for other mums, should i try and give something back? HHmmm

I might email them and find out more....

My Mum trained as a NCT Breastfeeding Counsellor before she had me. She worked for a few years while I was a kid, I remember there were often women in our living room with thier boobies out! She was an amazing help to me while I've been struggling with breastfeeding, I couldn't have done it without her.

Its something I'd love to do, and if I ever feel 'well' enough, I'd go for it.

Definitely look into it!

Wow I'd say go for it :D I dont think there are enough BF Counsellors, they was like a needle in a haystack when I needed one.

Wishing you all the best

I've done local Peer Supporter training just completed the ABM Mother Supporter training (awaiting results.....)
The next step with ABM is full BF counsellor. I'm going back to work next week but once I'm settled back in I'm thinking of doing the full counsellor training.

The Mother Supporter training takes about 10 weeks and is a nice 'taster' - I'd recommend it :)

I have a bfeeding support worker and shes great! Go for it!
