My son is a week old. So far I have fed him on formula. I've decided i want to start Breast feeding him. Because he's used to a bottle I have decided to buy a breast pump.

Can I start him on my breast milk straight away or do I have to wean him of formula. Can I store it in the fridge for 24hrs and do I have to reheat it?

First just to say well done for trying to give it a go :)
Breastmilk can be stored for around 3 days in the fridge and 3/4 months in the freezer.
You have to heat it up to body temperature, your basically simulating what it would be like from ur breast.
Your LO is still very young, it might be worth trying to get him to take the breast occasionally? Plenty of skin to skin and offering the boob at any time could work wonders and will make ur life much much easier than having to exclusively express.
Best of luck hun :hugs::hugs: xxx

:hugs:HI!
You can BF your baby straight away, your milk is better for him than formula :)

As your baby is so young, you will not have problem in getting him back to the breast.
A few recommendations I used when the same happened to me:

1. Always nurse first, then give the bottle.
2. Nurse as often as you can, every 2-3 hours, and if you have some milk, don't give your baby too much formula, 2 oz max. That way, he will be hungry more often and you will get the stimulation you need.
3. If he doesn't want to latch, try it when He is not that hungry, when he is sleepy or tired, also when he is waking but is still sleepy...

Please let us know how are you doing... :hugs::hugs:
