I'm planning on taking a few classes before LO might be into solid foods. I heard that some LO's won't go back and forth between BF and FF, but, is it because of the bottle, or is it because of the formula? If he/she gets the same milk, just from two sources, will that cause a problem? Or is the bottle the issue? (I HOPE THIS QUESTION IS CLEAR!) Is the combo feeding a problem because of the bottle itself or because of formula?

Sorry to ask the same question a few times, I'm just not sure if it comes out right.:dohh:

It's because of the bottle, although I'm sure breast milk would make the breast rejection less likely. Aslong as you start bottles after your milk supply is established.

The reason babeis prefer the bottle, is because with the breast they have to work for the milk, it isn't right there. Whereas a bottle is like a takeaway!

Would you cook if you were being offered a chinese?

Depends on the baby. Some end up preferring the bottle to the breast, others find that one type of milk doesn't agree with them. You should always wait until BFing is established before introducing bottles to avoid nipple confusion.

Hmmm I think I understand what you are asking... London was drinking breastmilk only, both from the boob and the bottle (we started expressing into bottles when she was about 6 weeks old), up through when she was 3 months. We then decided to try and supplement with formula. Almost two months later, she still doesn't like formula, and sometimes will refuse it completely. I wish that we had gotten her used to formula earlier, but she may not have taken it then either... So to answer your question - each baby is different!! :hugs:

thanks, that kind of gives me a guideline to expect from, sort of
