So I've done some research that says you can use breast milk as eyedrops for babies with pink eye or clogged ducts. My dd I think has clogged ducts but I'm not 100% sure. Anyone tried it before? Did it work?

I found clean pre boiled water more effective but the doctor and the hv both suggested it to me.

It was suggested to me too, but the coordination required to get breast milk into my baby's eye was beyond me at that point. I found cleaning the eye with warm salt water helped, but what cleared it right up was gently massaging the area above the inner corner of the eye with my clean pinky finger. Apparently this helps open the tear duct, it cleared up within two days of me trying it.

I tried it in the past but it was quite difficult to get into her eye and didn't seem to help much. I think the infection was too far advanced by then though and she needed eye drops for it.

My MIL suggested it first for my baby who had clogged ducts. We tried it for a week with temporary relief. But we eventually got erythromycin ointment, applied that 3x a day for 2 weeks, massaged the inner corner of the eyes, and now clogged ducts and the ooze from it are totally gone.

I tried it just this week. My 8 week old had a yellow discharge in one eye, I cleaned it with warm water, but was advised to try the breastmilk. Since I couldn't get to a doctor until the next day I thought I'd try it. I cleaned it with water first then expressed milk onto a clean cotton ball and wiped her eye with that, and actually squeezed a couple of drops from it into her eye (far easier than trying to express directly into her eye). I did that about three times overnight and the next day her eye was fine, has been clear since.

Yep! Our two month old has a clogged duct that comes and goes basically and breast milk really seems to help clear it up for a while. It has antibodies in it which I think is what does the trick :) just make sure it's room temp, I tried dropping it into his eye refrigerated and he did NOT like that. Haha

I did it with dd.. I sometimes would unlatch during a feeding (when I was spraying :haha:) and would let it spray her in her eyes, she never seemed to mind which surprised me, but I'd let it get enough to make a small puddle around the eye and let her blink several times before I would gently dab up the excess and let it rest in her eyes for the rest of the feeding.. worked like a charm!!!!

I totally believe in it working for pink eye. It worked for DS2 when he got it about two months ago and when I got it shortly after I may have done it for myself as well to see if it would work for me. Totally did.
