breastfeeding and period

Well I got my period already... grrr! Anyways I have a trip in August and I'm really hoping I'm not on my period then as we booked a suite on the ocean. If it comes in a month I'll be fine but I know it can probably be all over the place since I am breastfeeding.

I was wondering for those of you who have gotten your period back, how many days until your period returns, how long is your period normally and is it normally heavy/medium/light? Thanks ladies!

I thought mine had started again when Sam was less than 2 months old...was just like a normal period, maybe a bit lighter (they're never really heavy, but last about 5 days) - but I've not had one since and he's now nearly 4 months (I'm not pregnant!)...so maybe you'll get a break for another few months!

Sorry I've not been much help at all, but I was wondering when mine will start again!

My mom said she got her period 5-6 months after having me, and breastfeeding and then she didnt have one for over a year!

i had some spotting and cramping thought for sure my period was back a few months ago but nothing since.

I figured now that he is starting to sleep through the night it would probably come back because he goes so long without feeding at night, hopefully it's just a bit of spotting and I don't get my period until at least the end of August.

That's what my doctor said when I said I thought they had started, but Sam's been sleeping through since our second day home, and I've still had nothing for over 2 months. Hope you don't get one again for a while x

It can be tough to know when to expect when you're breastfeeding!

With my first I had DD, one month later I had and every 26 days thereafter, I got . Normal period, 3 days long.

Not sure what will happen with this baby though, I'm spending a lot more time with her (not away from her for work as much as DD1). We'll see if I get a period in the next week or so.

I go back to work part-time next week, I work two days one week and four the next. It's going to be a pain pumping but it will be worth it, I work you lactation consultants so I now they will be telling me to get up and pump LOL. Pretty sure it's my period now as it's quite heavy lets just hope it comes every 28 days because then it will skip my birthday and our trip to the ocean!

I got mine back sometime when my son was about 6 months. And it wasted no time- the first one was "normal" and I started right up on a "normal for me" 30 day cycle after.
